__NOTOC__
First of all, welcome to Hyrule Castle! As you likely already know, this wiki itself functions as the Library for the Hyrule Castle forums. These forums primarily contains a continuous play-by-post role-play set in a universe based on The Legend of Zelda. The forums are also a place for friendly discussion, and a hub for other role-play settings. If you're new to HC, this guide should serve as a comprehensive introduction to familiarize yourself with this site, help you get to know its version of Hyrule, and teach you how to use our treasure/quest system. For brevity, this guide assumes you've posted on a forums-based website before.

After reading this Guide, another important read is the Guide to Character Creation. Two other guide threads cover optional areas of the site, namely Classic Dungeons and the Battle Arena.

This Library itself provides a complete index of significant treasures, comprehensive description of player-character races, and summaries of all major locations in this interpretation of Hyrule, among other pertinent information.

Site Navigation
From this page, as well as any other in the Library, you can return to the proper Hyrule Castle forums just by clicking the "Forums" link in the left panel.

Near the top of every page of the Hyrule Castle forums, you'll find a navigation bar with several round buttons. It's easy to navigate the site when you use these buttons, labeled as follows:
* Guide will bring you right back to this guide in the Library.
* Map brings you to a page with an overall map of the Hyrulean Continent and the Great Sea, useful for reference.
Hyrule
History of Hyrule
:For the full version, see "A History of Dawn to Darkness," available on the Hyrule page.

For centuries, Hyrule as existed as a kingdom on a continent ruled primarily by the Hylian race centered in Castle-Town. They, the Gorons of Death Mountain, and the Zora of Zora's Domain lived in an honorable alliance. More elusive races, like Kokiri and Deku Scrubs, were viewed with suspicion. Yet, the known world was in a period of prosperous peace.

Yet, one day, approximately 15 years ago, a great evil army of monsters and undead began ransacking the southern half of Hyrule. Hylian villages were invaded, massacred, and razed. The wise and the unfortunate knew this monstrous army to belong to the mysterious King of Evil--Ganon himself, a man or a beast foretold in ancient legends...

Over the course of three years, civilization in Southern Hyrule was all but destroyed, and the hardiest people Hyrule had ever known--the Gorons--were driven out from the most well-fortified construction in the land, a natural formation which became known as Death Mountain. It was here where Ganon's sweep across Hyrule quietly and bizarrely ceased. The mountain remains impenetrable and heavily guarded. Disorganized soldiers of Ganon's army and bandits alike now roam the perilous south, making almost all reconstruction efforts next to impossible.

For reasons unknown, Ganon's forces have since remained stagnant for 12 years. Any attempts to retake Death Mountain have resulted in total failure. With their resources and population nearly halved, the Hylians and displaced Gorons have yet to fully recover--while the Evil King's status remains unknown to even his own followers, as mysterious as his motives and origins. Thus, the stalemate continues in a continent torn apart by war...

In this world, remnants of battlefields, destroyed temples, and underground dungeons remain filled with both mindless monsters and the treasures of the fallen. As such, adventurers, looters, and their kin have become commonplace among the more mundane workers of the civilized world. Heroes always have someone to rescue, and sages always have research to be done.

Important Places
Because the world of Hyrule is so vast, it is assumed that any player can freely invent minor locations on random points of the map--such as a dungeon entrance, or a small outpost. It's assumed these minor locations will only be used in one or two adventures. By contrast, an "important place" is a known city or locale plotted on the official map of Hyrule Castle. Important places have their own documented history, and are intended for use in many adventures.

The following table contains all major places. Clicking one will bring you to a Library page which offers further detail.

Places

Ranks
:Main article: Rank
There are three "ranks" members are assigned on Hyrule Castle: Newcomer (or "Newbie"), Regular, and Veteran. A member with a higher rank generally has been a member of Hyrule Castle longer--and is more active--than a member of a lower rank. A member of higher rank gains additional privileges when it comes to creating characters, and when gaining certain treasures.

When you join HC, you are a Newcomer. After 30 days of continuous activity without causing major problems, you should be promoted to Regular. Most members will not become Veterans, as this rank is reserved for long-time members who are skilled and trusted enough to perform actions otherwise reserved for Staff members. Consequently, it is assumed that all current Staff members are honorary Veterans.

Character Creation
:See also: The Guide to Character Creation
Before you can begin your adventures on Hyrule Castle, you must first create a character--an avatar for yourself in the world of Hyrule. Consult the Guide to Character Creation, above.

As a general rule of thumb, you are allowed to introduce temporary "non-player characters" in the middle of your adventures. Enemies and allies alike can become temporary NPCs. Remember, your character is the protagonist, and NPCs are intended to fill supporting roles. If you want to make a NPC a lead character in your adventures, you can turn the NPC into a full and proper character through character creation (assuming the NPC suits the rules for character creation).

Rupees & Treasures
Hyrule Castle makes use of a unique Treasure system. Basically, your character gains rupees from completing Quests or other activities; he can either gain Treasures in place of those rupees, or later expend those rupees to gain treasures. How costly a given Treasure is for your character usually depends on his Power, Wisdom, and Courage (PWC) scores. Rupees and PWC are described in more detail below.

As a general rule of thumb, a Treasure is an extraordinary item which uses unexplained phenomena, advanced knowledge, magic, or mechanics beyond the norm for Hyrule. Treasures must be earned. Common items, by contrast, can be gained for free.

Treasures can range from a Bomb Bag, to the Spin Attack technique, to smithing abilities. Indeed, they can be either something you possess, or something extraordinary you are able to do. The Library lists and categorizes all established treasures. When deciding on treasures for your character, refer to the Hero's Choice page. Hero's Choice is a list of popular and easy-to-understand treasures.

You can request for a new Treasure to be established by posting in the Treasure Creation forum.

Common items (or "free items") include almost anything which was available in real-life Europe in the middle ages, to exclude any contraptions which used gunpowder, and any items which didn't cost a small fortune. As such, swords, trained horses, and small houses are all perfectly acceptable common items which can be gained by any character for free. Be careful not to gain an unreasonable amount of common items, however--horses don't grow on trees.

Rupees
As explained above, rupees are used to gain treasures, and are the common currency in Hyrule. Players are not only allowed, but encouraged to use artistic license to dictate how wealthy their characters actually are. For instance, a high-society nobleman probably has a trust fund with thousands of rupees, far more than can be earned in quests or dungeons.

Every character begins with at least 100 rupees, as explained in the Guide to Character Creation. Otherwise, a character gain gain rupees by completing a Quest or a Dungeon, by winning in the Battle Arena, by trading rupees with other characters, or sometimes through special events announced by the Staff. Finally, any player can gain 10 rupees for one of his characters by introducing a new member to Hyrule Castle.

Whenever a character gains rupees, she may instead immediately exchange some of those rupees for a treasure, as her PWC allows. For example, if she would gain 50 rupees, she could instead gain a 35-rupee treasure and 15 rupees. Alternatively, she could gain two 25-rupee treasures.

A character can later exchange rupees for a treasure as well. Gaining the treasure (but not necessarily losing the rupees) must be done in-character, even if gaining the treasure only constitutes a single-post thread.

Whenever a character gains or loses rupees, or gains or loses a treasure, that character's profile must be edited accordingly. Ideally, the character's profile will link to any such transactions.

PWC
:PWC is similarly explained in the Guide to Character Creation.

PWC is an abbreviation of Power / Wisdom / Courage. PWC is the way we determine how apt a character is at acquiring treasures--extraordinary items and abilities. For example, a character with high Wisdom is better at learning spells; a character with high Power has an easier time mastering weaponry like bombs or a hookshot. It can be interpreted to portray actual attributes like strength or intelligence, but the intention of PWC is solely to represent aptitude for gaining different treasures.

A given character has a number representing each of the three aspects of PWC. Each number is a whole number on a scale between 1 and 5, with 5 being the height of proficiency in that area. Essentially, the higher the score, the easier it will be for a character to obtain a treasure associated with that aspect. Each treasure has five prices, one for each level of its aspect.

For example, the Spin Attack technique has the the following costs:
* P5: 40 rupees
* P4: 50 rupees
* P3: 60 rupees
* P2: 70 rupees
* P1: 80 rupees

You can see the importance of having a high score in Power when acquiring this treasure. It is advised that you consider what treasures fit your character most before setting his or her PWC. Note, some treasures always have the same cost, regardless of PWC.

* Power-based treasures usually involve brute force or martial techniques, such as those learned through practice and repetition. Explosives, armor, melee weapons, and combat maneuvers are usually associated with Power.
* Wisdom-based treasures usually involve intelligence, complexity, and intricate spells. Canes and many other magical items are associated with Wisdom.
* Courage-based treasures usually involve charisma, intuition, agility, and willpower. Many songs, mind-controlling abilities, tricky tools, and skills involving stealth or theft are associated with Courage.

Every character starts with one point in each of the three aspects of PWC. Depending on a character's race and origin, extra points will be awarded in specific attributes. For example, a Kokiri has an automatic racial bonus to Courage, so any Kokiri character will have a starting PWC score of 1/1/2. (It's always in order: 1 Power, 1 Wisdom, 2 Courage.)

After race and origin have been chosen, the character-creator may distribute the extra points between the virtues however she wishes. Know, however, that no virtue can go above 5. The amount of extra points the character-creator has to distribute depends on her rank.

A Newcomer has four additional PWC points, and a Regular also has four, but a Veteran has five. Upon promotion to a higher rank, a player can give an extra point to all her pre-existing characters. An individual character can also increase his PWC through the costly Permanent Increase treasure. In any case, you are never required to add any or all of the points above the minimum for your race.

So, for example, Ben wants to create a grizzled old soldier character. He decides that the Power treasures will be best for him, so he wants to invest his points mostly in Power. His character is Hylian, and a Hylian can have a starting PWC of 2/1/1. As Ben is a Regular, he gets 4 more PWC points to distribute. He chooses to crank Power up to 4 and uses the last couple points in Courage, since he wants his soldier to have some of the Courage-based treasures. His character is left with a PWC of 4/1/3. Several months later, Ben is promoted to Veteran; hooray! He decides to give that final nudge to his character's Power score, leaving him with a final PWC of 5/1/3.

Major Treasures
Certain powerful treasures are designated as "Major Treasures." A Major treasure is unusually powerful, to the point where it is considered character-defining. As such, any character may normally only have one Major treasure. Once a Major treasure is gained, it can never be lost, stolen, traded, or otherwise permanently removed from the character's ownership.

If a character wishes to gain another Major treasure, he must first gain the costly Major Gain trait, and must do so for every Major treasure he gains beyond the first.

Trading Between Characters
Different players are allowed to trade rupees and certain treasures with other players' characters. Treasures with a physical form (magical items, mechanical items, and organic items) can be traded. Treasures without a physical form (techniques, spells, songs, and traits) cannot be traded without special means. Major Treasures can never be traded.

One player cannot trade rupees among his own characters. One player may temporarily trade item treasures between his characters, but cannot do so permanently.

Abuse of trading treasures (such as creating new characters solely to trade away treasures) will result in disciplinary measures and/or a ban. Trade responsibly, use common sense.

Renting Treasures
:See also: Glossary:Rent
Characters are allowed to "rent" treasures for a single role-play thread, single Quest, single Dungeon, or single fight in the Battle Arena. The character loses an amount of rupees based on the treasure's price, and is able to use it in the corresponding thread (and only that thread). After a character has rented a treasure, she can later gain that treasure at a reduced cost. The cost becomes its full cost minus its rent cost. (If she rents the same treasure multiple times, the cost does not decrease further.)

The rent cost depends not on the Treasure's PWC, but on its cost category, as follows:
* Lowest or Lower Cost: 5 rupees
* Low or Normal Cost: 10 rupees
* High or Higher Cost: 15 rupees
* Highest Cost: 20 rupees
* Set Cost: 20% of the treasure's full cost

Adventuring & Role-Playing
Once you have an approved character, you are free to begin role-playing in the Hyrule forums. The world is divided up into three forums--Northern Hyrule, Southern Hyrule, and the Eastern Sea--which represent adventures taking place in those varying regions. The other forums--Events, Classic Dungeons, and Battle Arena--represent areas which can be accessed from anywhere.

You can start a solo thread if you like, or look for someone else to role-play with you in the shoutbox, or the Role-Play Discussion forum.

You're generally allowed to role-play anything you like, so long as you adhere to this guide, use a character that has been approved, use realistic logic appropriate to Hyrule, and adhere to the limits of the Treasure system. If you role-play in the Battle Arena, more specific rules and limitations apply.

Try to use proper English grammar and spelling. Some players prefer to write in third-person as if creating a novel, while others prefer writing in first-person as if explaining their own experiences. Regardless, it's better to avoid writing in an abbreviated "script" format.

Notably, it's frowned upon to involve major characters such as Ganon, the Deku Tree, or Link without prior approval from Staff. Canonical characters essentially belong to all players, and as such usually aren't used by any one player.

Quests
You are allowed to role-play as much as you want, whether there's an end goal to your character's adventures or not. You don't need to go on a Quest, but most players choose to do so, as Questing grants your character rupees or treasures.

A Quest is a role-play involving at least your character, and possibly other players' characters, where a goal is met. For example, a group of mercenary characters might be killing off a troublesome monster, or a group of thieving characters might be robbing a tomb. A Quest could even be as docile as catching up with an old friend.

Depending on the number of players involved, a Quest should usually involve at least 20 posts of decently-sized replies. This is a very rough measurement. Players are discouraged from counting posts or rushing through posts to complete a Quest. Questing is about the journey, not the destination.

Once a Quest has been finished, one of the players involved can post a thread in the Quest Bureau. The QB thread should provide a summary of the quest's events in-character, provide a link to the thread(s) in which the role-play took place, and name the characters and players involved.

From this point, a Staff member will see the QB thread, and eventually look over the quest itself. So long as no rules are broken, the Staff member will then officially approve the quest. Once a quest is approved, the players each gain 40 rupees, plus an additional 10 rupees for each character that player used. (E.g., if one player used two characters, he gains 60 rupees to split between those two characters.)

Rupees can be immediately exchanged for treasures. It's even possible to gain a treasure in a Quest with the rupees you will later receive from finishing that Quest. In fact, most players do this. (Obviously, that treasure cannot be kept if the Quest is never finished.)

Notably, players can decide to divide their rupees up in uneven amounts. In this case, the QB thread should list how many rupees each character is receiving.

A Quest role-play is only different from a normal role-play in that (a) it has a Quest Bureau thread, and (b) the players are awarded rupees. As such, a normal role-play can be turned into a Quest at any time, even after the role-play is over.

Classic Dungeons
:See the full article: The Guide to Classic Dungeons
Classic Dungeons function similarly to Quests, but specifically emulate one of the dungeons canonically present in one of the official Legend of Zelda games. Recently, original dungeons created on Hyrule Castle have been added as well. Prestigious dungeons with high rewards, known as "Super Dungeons," can be challenged if a player completes numerous normal dungeons.

Notably, one player in a Classic Dungeon can be designated as the "Dungeon Master." This DM can dictate the enemies, traps, rooms, and circumstances the other players' characters encounter in the dungeon.

Battle Arena
:See the full article: Regulations of the Arena
The Battle Arena is overseen by a mysterious judge known as the Arena Lord. In his domain, players are freely encouraged to battle each other, waging their own trade-able prizes for victory. Gauntlets of overwhelming monsters are thrown down upon the lone players fierce enough to face them. Occasionally, tournaments are held to grant the ultimate victor grand prizes. Notably, the Battle Arena has stricter limitations on what is allowed in posts, which can be read in the Regulations.

Events
Occasionally, a Staff member will post a new event in the Events forum. An event can range from a free holiday gift, to a new dungeon, to a contest between all players. Events normally have time limitations, and thus do not remain open forever. Events are always available to all players, and are always completely optional.

* P5: 40 rupees
* P4: 50 rupees
* P3: 60 rupees
* P2: 70 rupees
* P1: 80 rupees

* Highest Cost: 20 rupees

A Ball and Chain is a magical item, and is not to be confused with a simpler, nonmagical ball and chain.

This item is what appears to be a steel sphere approximately 2 feet (or 2/3 meters) in diameter, with a few small spikes across its surface. From this sphere is extended a short chain, usually of a length comparable to the wielder's armspan. Normally, this item can be used as any simple ball and chain weapon, but it gains several distinctly magical functions depending on how it is used.

First and foremost, the ball itself has a constant effect which multiplies the force with which it impacts. The force is comparable to the explosion from a standard Bomb, minus the heat, sounds, and other side-effects from an explosion. As a seeming side-effect from this property, it roughly halves the force any other object exerts upon it. As such, the wielder can use it as a makeshift shield to soften blows.

The other major effect must be intentionally activated. After the wielder spins the ball briefly overhead, using the chain to do so, the weapon gains a temporary magical property. If the ball is thrown, it will propel forward with the chain magically extending so that the user always maintains a firm grip on it. Within a few seconds after the ball is thrown, if the user tugs on the chain, the ball will magically soar back to the wielder. In doing so, it will damage anything it runs into, but will drop harmlessly either into his hands or at his feet, depending on how hard he tugged. If the user waits too long to pull the chain, it will not be able to soar back, and must instead be hauled back manually.
Pegasus Boots appear similar to normal brown leather boots, albeit with small white wings extending from either the sides. The boots have a single unique effect, which is activated if their wearer charges in one place for about half a second. The wearer will then shoot forward at incredible acceleration to approximately 25mph (over 45 km/h) running speed, which is approximately twice the sprinting speed of a typical Hylian, and only slightly less than the fastest natural running a Hylian can produce. The exact speed may vary with the user's size and natural running ability. It always appears as a glove, bracelet, or bracer. Despite its many names and appearances, its effect is always the same. So long as the item is worn, it effectively triples the weight the user can lift, carry over their head, push, or pull. It does not affect their strength in other ways, and does not enhance the damage one can deal with weapons or unarmed combat.
Punch Ring is a magical offensive item, most useful for fist fighters. Wearing this ring enables one to concentrate his power into the fist bearing the ring, for one or two seconds, causing the ring to either glow, or produce a similar visual effect. When the user next looses a punch, it can magically extend outwards, with a ghost-like version of the user's fist shooting forth a distance approximately equal to twice the wearer's height. This false fist has all the power and speed of the original punch, but can still be blocked, dodged, or otherwise diverted, as any other punch would be. Because the false fist is separate from the wearer's body, he is not affected by what happens to it, but also cannot control it after it leaves him. The false fist disappears at the maximum range, or immediately after it impacts a solid object.
Any object other than the ground that the user touches, but does not hold or wear, will still make noise normally. Whoever wears this ring can walk upon any solid surfaces without breaking them, regardless of her weight or the durability of the surface. For instance, the wearer can walk easily across thin ice, shaky bridges, and even thread-thin rope bridges without fear of them breaking underneath her. Her weight will nonetheless bow the surface if it would normally be the case, as is the case with a rope bridge. The wearer must maintain at least one foot on the ground to maintain this protection, and as such, forfeits the protection if she jumps or begins to run.
The Sate Sash appears as a sash, cape, or scarf usually of a golden or brown color. For so long as it is worn, the user is fed a constant supply of nutrition from the sash, which causes them to never hunger nor have much need for food. For those unaccustomed to it, the sash feels inherently bland, and doesn't remove basic desire for solid sustance. It also doesn't remove the user's thirst or need for water to any extent.

For the sash to function, it must be exposed to direct sunlight for several hours at any point within the past day. If it is not allowed to absorb light, it will visibly grow pale, then a stark white, and its wearer will go hungry.

The sash's initial function is gradual, only slowly drawing in nutrients relevant to its wearer's needs, and as such its effects of ending hunger may not be felt for hours after it is first donned.

In addition to these protective benefits, the Serpent Suit has a secondary effect. When the wearer wills it, he can cause the lower half of his body to quickly transform into the tail of a serpent. This tail is fully under the wearer's control, and functions as if it was part of his body. It has proportional strength, and is particularly effective at coiling and wringing foes.
At will, the wearer of this ring can cause a sudden light to grow from the ring, forming over his hand what appears to be a semitransparent shield out of light. Despite its appearance, this shield is as heavy, sturdy, and dense as a typical steel shield. The shield is only as wide as the user's forearm, and is usually of a round shape, but can also take on a kite shape if the wearer wills it. While this shield is primarily used for martial defense, it exudes a clear white light with luminosity comparable to a torch.
Once a shield is created, the wearer can only cause it to disappear by removing the ring, or breaking the shield itself. Because of this temporary nature, the shield cannot be used for crafting purposes.
A Skulltula Suit, or Spider Suit, typically appears as off-white cloth or armor, with yellow and black accents. Aside from this normal form, the user can transform the suit into either (a) a swarm of spiders that can travel away from her, or (b) an attach to the lower half of her body, temporarily transforming her body to be more like a spider. Needless to say, the suit cannot assume more than one of these forms simultaneously.

Spider Swarm
First, the wearer can at any time cause the suit itself to dissolve into a swarm of tiny, harmless spiders which cannot bite nor directly attack. There are approximately one-thousand spiders, each of which is about the size of a large ant. The number and size will vary if the suit and its wearer are extremely large or extremely small, however.

These spiders are inherently obedient to the original wearer of the Spider Suit. They will be default cling to the user, or follow her if she moves. The user can provide simple vocal commands to the swarm, which they will follow to the best of their limited intelligence. The spiders will always travel and think as a swarm, and cannot separate into smaller groups by their own will (without the Spider Squads augment). As a group, the swarm can be commanded to go to specified locations, swarm and distract specified creatures, or to carry small objects. Similar simple commands are possible, but the spiders are never intelligent enough to provide information to the user, nor smart enough to swarm enemies in the most distracting way possible.

The swarm is afraid of flames, electricity, or similar elements. They will not attack a creature who is visibly wielding a flaming weapon, climb onto an object radiating a magical cold, nor anything else of the sort, even if directly commanded to do so.

At any time, the user can call off the swarm. This causes the suit to instantly reform on her body, and any survivors in the swarm simultaneously disappear. This can be done regardless of how far away the spiders are, or even if they have all died. As soon as the suit has reformed, the wearer may transform it into a new swarm of a thousand spiders.

Spider Limbs
Secondly, the wearer can cause the suit to transform the lower half of her body into a skulltula or spider. She can choose to be transformed from the neck down, or from the waist down. In either case, the transformed portion of her body becomes that of a giant spider body, complete with eight legs and the ability to create traditional spider webs. Furthermore, this form enables the user to effortlessly climb walls and even ceilings.

At any time, the user can transform back into her normal body, causing the Spider Suit to reappear. Any damage or injury sustained in one form is carried over to the other. If the user loses a limb in her spider form, for example, and transforms back into a bipedal form, one of her legs will be badly damaged.
|augment=yes
|title=Spider Squads
|set=10}}
Spider Squads

This augment can be gained multiple times. Each time it is gained, the Spider Swarm created by this suit can be split into an additional group. Gaining it once allows the swarm to be split into two groups, gaining it twice allows three groups, and so on. Each group can be commanded individually as if it was its own swarm. Groups will split and rejoin as the user commands.
clear
Trivia
* The Mermaid Suit and the Serpent Suit each have an effect similar to Spider Limbs, transforming the wearer's lower half into a fish or snake respectively.
So long as this amulet is worn, its effect will be activated whenever the wearer stands completely still for at least five seconds, and mentally focuses on the amulet. The user's entire body will transform into a nearly-invincible statue of a magical material which appears similar either to solid marble, or cloudy ice. The statue appears similar to if not exactly like the user normally does, and transforms all items on their person (including the amulet itself). This statue is extremely cold to the touch, at least as cold as frozen water. Despite the transformation, this effect does not make the user any heavier, however, and the user remains completely in control of his senses. The user may cancel the effect at will to return to his normal state, but upon doing so, the user's body will be momentarily so numb it is impossible to move. The socks have one uncanny effect that is only possible to trigger when the user is in a panicked, 'fight or flight' state of mind. Using the adrenaline of survival, the socks enable their wearer to sprint away from any perceived danger at extremely high speeds. A typical Hylian can quickly reach a sprinting speed of 40 mph (of 65 km/h), which is several times faster than any Hylian could normally sprint, and nearly twice as fast as a Hylian wearing Pegasus Boots. This speed can be retained until the wearer feels he or she is a safe distance away from the threat.

It is virtually impossible to activate the socks without a perceived threat, as they will only trigger if the wearer legitimately feels he is in great physical danger--and will only enhance speed on a course directly away from the source of that danger. Should the wearer's course become less cowardly, he will drop down to normal running speed almost instantly.
clear
Trivia
* Notably, these socks do not combine with other effects which primarily increase running speed, such as the Pegasus Boots or Pegasus Seed Supply. The appearance of a Terror Mask varies from one viewer to another, as it is always maintaining an illusion that depends on who perceives it, though it always takes the form of a disturbingly realistic mask. A Lens of Truth can negate the illusion, which causes the mask itself to appear as nothing but semitransparent white cloth.

Fitting to its name, whoever views the Terror Mask will see the visage of whomever or whatever the viewer fears most. The illusory face is always something the viewer has either seen or imagined. The illusion is disturbingly realistic, even gaining facial expressions or mouth movements reflecting the bearer's true face underneath.

The Terror Mask is commonly used to thwart animals or other beings with low intelligence as, to them, it likely appears as a dangerous predator. Resolute, willful, and intelligent beings may be shaken by the visage they see, but are usually wise enough to realize the truth of what they are seeing and overcome their fear if necessary.
Thwomp Gloves usually appear as a rocky gray gauntlet to be worn on the hands, requiring both of them to function.

The gloves can be activated with the user places both open palms facing in front of her, standing stationary, and concentrates intensely for roughly 10 seconds. This causes a large cubical stone creature known as a Thwomp to appear before her. The Thwomp is almost perfectly cubical, made of solid stone yet animated by magic, and usually of a height comparable to the user. It usually weights several hundred pounds, but its weight is relative to its size.

Once it is created, the Thwomp will slowly rise into the air, floating on a wave of invisible force, until it either hits a ceiling, or reaches a height of about 20 feet (or 600 cm), whichever comes first. There it will remain stationary until something disturbs it, with a calm expression upon its face.

Whenever an animated being crosses directly beneath the Thwomp, its face will abruptly become furious, it will release an audible grunt, and its cubical body will drop straight down. The Thwomp has no discretion--it will even drop upon the one who created it. The force of several hundred pounds of stone crushing downward will usually be lethal if it strikes cleanly. There is usually a second or two the potential victim has to react to the grunt noise, and that's assuming it didn't notice the giant hunk of stone floating in the air initially.

Once triggered, the Thwomp will continue to drop until it strikes a solid floor. It will always pause abruptly just above this floor, not damaging it, but pulverizing practically anything between itself and the floor. Once it ceases falling, it will once again calmly and gradually float into the air, waiting for another opportunity to drop.

It is virtually impossible to move a Thwomp from its floating position by force, and any force strong enough to sufficiently damage its stone body will cause it to vanish into thin air. The user can use her gloves at any time to summon a new Thwomp, but this will cause the previous one to vanish.
The bottoms of the boots are virtually impenetrable by heat or cold--famously even allowing a stalwart wearer to stride across molten rock unharmed, so long as it isn't so fluid the user would sink into it. Similarly, it protects the wearer's feet from all manner of spiked or slippery floors, enabling the user to not only keep his balance on ice, but walk across caltrops and Spine Spores with ease.

Although the boots feature steel toes and are extremely hardy, they are otherwise only slightly more dense than common boot leather. As such, they only have niche offensive purposes, and can be penetrated from the sides as well as common boots.
A Muscle Band can come in a variety of forms, from a metallic bracelet to an elastic headband. Regardless, it is always a band that can be worn on the body.

While the band is worn, the user's physical strength is magically altered. The wearer's strength becomes equivalent to the strength of a Darknut or Lynel. A particularly strong Korok with a Muscle Band will be able to match the strength of a particularly strong Lynel. Simultaneously, a particularly weak Korok with a Muscle Band will still be weaker than even an average Lynel. Indeed, relative strength is reflected appropriately by the Muscle Band. As such, any Lynel or Darknut will not be any stronger or weaker while wearing a Muscle Band.

The effect of a muscle band has a slight variance with the wearer's body mass. This variance is less noticeable when sizes are comparable, such as a 5-foot-tall Hylian and a 7-foot tall Gerudo. It becomes extreme when comparing either of these to a Picori, however, as even a typical hylian has hundreds of times more mass than any picori.

A strange side-effect of the Muscle Band is that the wearer's body tends to become much more dense and heavy. Because of this, feats of strength which move the body--such as running or jumping--are not significantly affected. A lightweight Deku Scrub won't be able to jump much higher even with a Muscle Band. That Deku Scrub also becomes significantly harder for other creatures to lift or move, however.
clear
Trivia
* A Power Bracelet also is a band which affects the wearer's strength, albeit in a different way.
Together they can serve as either north or south polarity, and can be switched at will, once every two second. The magnetic power is barely enough to pull 200 pounds (or 90kg) straight upwards. (As such, the boots will not magnetize with any object not below them.) The user's feet will be magnetized to any metal or rock, regardless of the surface's polarity or magnetic potential. The magic will not halt extremely powerful emotions or motivations, such as an overwhelming desire to kill the wearer, but in nearly every other state of mind the dance's magic will captivate anyone who watches it. The wearer's dance requires all of his attention, and he cannot move from where he started the dance nor perform any other actions while maintaining the trance effect. Once the wearer ceases dancing, the effect immediately ends. Generally, any sudden rush of adrenaline--such as being injured, falling, or watching a murder--will break a being out of the trance prematurely.
While Iron Boots appear as simple leather with iron-covered feet, they possess a very unique property. While they are not worn, the boots are not particularly heavy; but when they are placed on the user's feet, their weight increases immensely. The weight seems to vary by the strength of the wearer, as the boots are always just heavy enough that they can barely be lifted from the ground. Walking in them is strenuous, but doable. Jumping or running in the boots is usually impossible.

If the wearer also has a pair of Magnet Boots, he can at will give his Iron Boots the effect of the Magnet Boots.
|title=Summon Boots
Summon Boots A wearer with this augment gains a small pocket of interdimensional space, in which he can store his pair of Iron Boots. When stored in this way, the boots have no physical form, and thus weigh nothing. At will, the wearer can summon the Iron Boots onto his feet, replacing any footwear if necessary, causing any replaced footwear to enter the interdimensional space instead. At will, the wearer can return the Iron Boots to the interdimensional space. If the Iron Boots ever leave the wearer's feet (through this augment or other means), any footwear stored in the interdimensional space will immediately be brought back into reality, and appear on the wearer's feet.
The Inversion Band usually appears as either a belt or elastic headband, often colored red on one side and blue on the other. The band will instill its effect on any person, animal, or object it is snugly secured around.

The affected entity experiences all heat as cold, and all cold as heat, relative to room temperature. If the wearer is sweating outside on a hot day, putting on this band will rapidly cool down their body--likely to the point of shivering from the cold.

For most wearers, this band doesn't protect from extreme temperatures, as anything lethal in one direction is still lethal in the opposite direction. However, it can extremely useful for those with an Infernal Composition or a Frigid Composition, since they have an extremely high tolerance for either heat or cold, but not the opposite.

This band does not protect from flames. Should it be wrapped around an entity that is on fire, the flames will simply become Cold Fire instead, which is usually just as dangerous.
The Hover Boots appear as regular leather boots, albeit with a pale yellow brim along the bottom. What makes them truly unique becomes apparent so long as the pair is worn. The wearer's feet will be hovered above the ground on a tiny cushion of air. As a result, the wearer will have greatly reduced traction, and slide around in a manner similar to traversing a floor of ice. The boots coincidentally enable safe walking over otherwise dangerous hazards, such as moving floors or pits of spikes. With practice, the boots can be used in a fashion somewhat similar to ice skates--effectively trading precision of trajectory for speed. A wearer who is familiar with these boots may be able to turn off the hovering effect at will, enabling the hover boots to be immediately switched into normally-functioning boots, or vise versa.

The boots have a secondary effect. When the user completely leaves the ground and becomes airborne, the boots enable the wearer to hover in mid-air a few seconds. After this brief period of hovering ends, the user drops out of the air normally.
A pair of Harvest Rings appear as a pair of small, cheaply-made rings of opposite colors. Commonly, one is orange and the other is black. For the rings to function, each one must be worn by the same person on opposite hands.

To use the rings' magical effect, the user must push her hands together, focus, then pull them apart. A magically-created pumpkin will form in the space between the user's palms. In this way, the wearer can create a pumpkin of numerous different sizes. Summoning a new pumpkin will replace the previous, causing it to abruptly vanish in a poof of smoke. A summoned pumpkin is identical to a normal pumpkin in seemingly all ways, except that it tastes bland and provides no nourishment when consumed.

In addition to the normal effects of Harvest Rings, a holder of Jack Rings may transform her pumpkin after it has been summoned. By snapping fingers of both hands simultaneously, the pumpkin will abruptly transform into a carved jack-o-lantern lit inside by a small magical fire. When worn, this mask causes the wearer to appear as a Gibdo or Redead, as the user decides. Cobra Boots appear as a normal pair of boots, but are frequently made of snake skin or otherwise stylized after serpents. They have a unique function, which can be activated at the user's will. When activated, the boots will abruptly and magically extend numerous fang-like spikes straight down out of the boots, each of which is roughly two inches in length and as strong as steel. Furthermore, these "fangs" are dripping with venom which causes wounds they inflict to be particularly painful, and are known to cause an intense stinging or burning sensation. After several minutes of exposure to this venom, most Hylian-like creatures will lose consciousness, but not die. Several solid penetrations can cause death in that same timeframe, however. Notably, this venom does not affect undead beings.

This version is the normal 10 rupee cost. Rare variations include a pendant or brooch, a tattoo, or other handier items, which instead cost 15 rupees, due to their comparative ease of use.

So long as the item is worn, the wearer has remarkable strength and endurance when it comes to remaining afloat in water, regardless of the weight of any gear on his person, and regardless of the turbulence of the water's surface. The user does not become buoyant, instead just gaining extreme proficiency at treading water. With Zora's Flippers, even a knight clad in full steel plate could swim across a river with ease. The wearer's ability to swim is slightly augmented as well, but not to the same extreme measures as his ability to tread water.

Generally, the Flippers do not aid the wearer to carry large or heavy objects in their arms. For example, even if a strong person could carry a boulder on land, the flippers likely will not enable them do so in water.
A pair of Fire Gloves usually appear as thick cloth gloves with metallic studs on the knuckles, and a metallic ring around the wrist. They are most commonly orange, but can also be other colors. Despite coming as a pair, one of them can be wielded on its own. The user can activate a gloves' magical ability at-will, so long as one of his hands is empty except for the glove.

If the wearer's palm his held open, activating the glove will manifest a swirling mass of magical fire right in front of his palm, with a roughly spherical mass equal in volume to the size of his own head. This can be used not only for melee attacks, but igniting wood or illuminating a cave, among many other purposes. The fire can never be manifested in anything other than open air. This flame will disappear if the user wills it, or if his hand closes.

By contrast, if the wearer thrusts his palm forward, a fiery projectile nearly as large as the swirling sphere will shoot forward at a sprinting pace. Unlike a typical magical projectile, it will repeatedly bounce as it travels, maintaining the same speed and height from each bounce despite how many times it hits the ground. The magical projectile has little actual mass, instead striking any target with pure heat and flame. The projectile continues to bounce for up to 5 seconds, or until it strikes and burns a moving being, at which point it abruptly vanishes into thin air. The user cannot sling form another ball of fire until the previous one has vanished.
A pair of Blue Fire Gloves usually appear as thick cloth gloves with metallic studs on the knuckles, and a metallic ring around the wrist. They are most commonly a pale blue, but can also be other colors. Despite coming as a pair, one of them can be wielded on its own. The user can activate a gloves' magical ability at-will, so long as one of his hands is empty except for the glove.

If the wearer's palm his held open, activating the glove will manifest a swirling mass of magical and icy-cold Blue Fire right in front of his palm, with a roughly spherical mass equal in volume to the size of his own head. This can be used not only for melee attacks, but freezing water or illuminating a cave, among many other purposes. The blue fire can never be manifested in anything other than open air. This flame will disappear if the user wills it, or if his hand closes.

By contrast, if the wearer thrusts his palm forward, a projectile of blue fire nearly as large as the swirling sphere will shoot forward at a sprinting pace. The user cannot sling form another ball of blue fire until the previous one has vanished.

If the user has already acquired a pair of Fire Gloves, a variant of Blue Fire Gloves, this treasure can be gained as though it was Lower Cost.
* The Bolt Ball Rod and the Seed Shooter treasures both have similar properties of creating magically bouncing projectiles.
The Blessed Boots are a defensive magical item.

They appear as a run-of-the-mill pair of rugged leather boots, albeit with some faintly etched runes that cover the outsoles. While these boots are worn, the wearer is able to drop from any height without suffering pain or injury, so long as the wearer lands on the outsoles of the boots. If the wearer doesn't land properly, the boots offer no protection. Similarly, if the boots aren't worn on the feet, the boots offer no protection from impact.

As a side-effect, virtually any impact against the soles of the boots will not harm the wearer, but may still cause the wearer's body to recoil backwards as a result of the impact.
The Blast Mask, or Bomb Mask, is a magical item used to create risky explosions.

This somewhat disturbing mask fits over the wearer's head and face like a helmet, appearing as a blue-black sphere with a skull and crossbones over the face. It appears transparent from the inside only, allowing the viewer to see clearly through it.

While this mask is worn, the user can concentrate a surge of adrenaline to any point at their body. From that point, an explosive equivalent in power to that of a Bomb will be unleashed. The user is damaged with only a portion of the explosion's power, usually enough to cause significant pain but only minor injury. The mask's power can be used infrequently, as it seems to take roughly ten or fifteen seconds before it can produce another explosion. Needless to say, repeated use of this mask can have fatal effects.
A Bee Badge typically appears as a gold-colored handheld medallion, with an engraving on one side which resembles a honeybee.

Any one being who holds or possesses this badge somewhere on his person will not be attacked (or stung) by normal forms of bees, wasps, mosquitos, and similar insects. Any such insects who encounter the wearer of this badge will instead autonomously defend him, for less than a minute's duration, by stinging or otherwise attacking any beings the wearer mentally designates as his enemies. Once an insect has defended the wearer for this duration, it will never do so again, but will also not attack him.
The Attitude Ring is a magical item. When the ring is donned, the wearer will genuinely feel one single emotion, from sadness to anger to apathy. He cannot shift into another emotion as another person normally would, subtle or otherwise; he would be absolutely stuck in the exact chosen emotion until the ring is removed. When this removal happens, the wearer will feel remarkably apathetic until he has properly rested.
The PAGENAME appears as a webbing of black fabric covering the user's face. So long as it is worn, the wearer will not lose consciousness even if he or she feels the overwhelming need to do so. Indeed, the wearer still feels the majority of fatigue that would otherwise be inflicted. Even if sleepiness is overwhelming to the point of being lethal, the wearer cannot sleep. Even if the wearer feels the normal overpowering need to sleep, he or she still not lose consciousness. The mask is an infamous torture device of insomnia for one incapable of removing it.
With a significant modification, the mask omits abnormal levels of fatigue. Although taxing activities such as sprinting or physical exertion will still task tire the wearer, the wearer never feels the overwhelming physiological need to sleep, and cannot die of sleep deprivation. This effectively negates any treasure that could induce unconsciousness, such as Drowse.
