'''Backshift Cape''' is a magical garment which gives the wearer a unique ability while worn, whether on the back or elsewhere. The ability is activated by clutching the cape with one hand, glancing backwards, and hopping off the ground. As soon as the toes leave ground, the user immediately shifts backwards at a speed of about 25mph (or 40 km/h), with backwards being whatever direction the center of the wearer's back is facing. The user will normally stop after a distance of 5 feet (or 1.5 meters), but will stop sooner if his feet return to ground quickly. For the duration of this backward movement, the user is strangely not affected by the momentum of this sudden movement; he will land on the ground as easily as if he had hopped in place.

The effect of this cape can normally only be used about once every 10 seconds. Attempting to use it prematurely causes it to not function.
