At will, the caster can outstretch her palm to summon a semitransparent hemisphere immediately in front of her fingertips. This hemisphere has a diameter slightly greater than the caster's height; the hue is commonly blue, but its exact color varies with the caster. Normally, this "barrier" only flicks into existence for less than a second. For the duration of the barrier's existence, most physical or magical effects cannot penetrate it, but will instead be pushed away to the extremities of the barrier. [[Fire|Fireball]]s will be pushed out of the way, sword blows will be deflected, and so forth. Generally, the barrier only has enough strength to ward a single attack of decent power. Two simultaneous potent attacks, or any single force on par with an [[:Category:Offensive Intent|Offensive]] [[:Category:Major Treasures|Major Treasure]], is capable of shattering the barrier and proceeding through it.

Any force which continuously exerts against the barrier, such as a continuous stream of [[Fire Breath]], ironically causes the barrier to continue to persist so long as the user holds up her palm, rather than disappear as quickly as it normally does. Under such conditions, the barrier can continue to resist a continuous attack for nearly a minute's time, but will still crumble if it is subjected to an additional attack within the duration of the continuous attack.

The caster cannot cast this spell within a full minute of her last barrier disappearing.
