'''Kakariko Village''', also known as '''Kakariko Ruins''', was once a great [[Hylian]] city ravaged to the ground by [[Ganon]]'s forces. Even still, they say the embers of that invasion still burn in the seas of rubble. Rarely does one find proper citizens here, usually only brigands searching through loot, or monsters like [[Lynel]]s who've made their home in these ruins rather than in caves.

What was to be a younger sibling to [[Castle Town]], '''Kakariko Village''' was constructed as the center point of Southern Hyrule’s [[Hylian]] civilization. Built over the course of five decades, Kakariko Village could hardly be called a village at all, though its size was still dwarfed by Castle Town itself. Sprawling over the hills, Kakariko became the center of politics, trade, and strength for Southern Hyrule. Built out of the ruggedness of the land, the thousands who called Kakariko Village home loved their lands dearly.

The strike was all but unforeseen, and the town awoke one morning to an army of darkness pressing against their walls. For days the might of Kakariko pressed back against the forces of [[Ganon]]'s invasion, refusing to surrender their city to the clutches of evil. Their prayers to the goddesses grew desperate and for a time there was the faintest glimmer of hope for the city, but it was to no avail. Pressing against the city with an army of the most dark and evil, Ganon himself led a vicious crushing blow against Kakariko, butchering everyone who could not flee for the [[Western Caves]] in time. Now, Kakariko Village stands as a testament to the suffering the land has endured. A citadel of darkness inhabited only by shadow and fire, the once great city lies a mess of chaos and ruins in the heart of Southern Hyrule.
