A Mask of Scents usually has a grotesque appearance of a swine, moblin, or canine. Wearing the mask greatly amplifies the wearer's sense of smell, enabling him to outdo even trained bloodhounds. He can even minutely detect emotions, the presence of magic, and the presence of violence, with varying accuracy. The wearer's remaining senses are dulled to approximately half their normal sensitivity.
Variant
In place of the Mask of Scents, a Moblin or Lizalfos may freely gain Scent. A beast with this trait has an extraordinarily strong sense of smell, which matches the power and capabilities of a person wearing a Mask of Scents. This variant is always in effect and cannot be turned off, but does not significantly dull the user's other senses. Unlike the mask, this is a trait and not a magical item, and is not part of the Headgear field.
This treasure is a racial perk for Moblins. As such, a Moblin can choose to gain it as a perk upon character creation.
Trivia
- The Megamouth Mask and Hawkeye are other masks which enhance the wearer's mundane senses and abilities.
- The Mask of Scents treasure canonically appears in the Zelda series, initially in Majora's Mask. More information about the canonical version of this treasure can likely be found on Zelda Wiki.
