Event Horizon is an offensive spell. When cast, it creates an extremely powerful attack, but does so at the cost of incapacitating its caster.

To begin casting Event Horizon, the caster must raise both hands overhead. She concentrates all of her magic energy into a spherical orb which forms above her hands, roughly the size of her body. The strain the caster places on herself is so great that she is likely forced to scream. After a few seconds of concentration, a tremendous explosion of magical energy detonates from the orb and from the caster's body. This explosion is said to be like the blinding light of a star, covering a radius of about 50 feet. This initial burst of light inflicts moderate Light damage to anyone within the radius. Nearer targets take the most damage, while those at the edge receive relatively little.

Moments after this initial explosion, the "star" appears to collapse, and abruptly appears to turn as dark as a black hole. This "black hole" sucks in surrounding objects into itself with great force. Any Hylian-sized creatures within a few feet will definitely be sucked into the sphere (assuming they lack any special protection), while any similar creatures won't be affected beyond a distance of 50 feet. Any creature sucked into the star seems to fall into a void where the normal rules of time and space don't apply--in this void, they are inflicted with overwhelming Light damage, which most creatures cannot survive.

Any creatures which perish in the void seem to disappear entirely from the realm of reality, incinerated into nothingness. Those who somehow manage to survive are dropped out of the black hole as it disappears.

The entire spell lasts for roughly 5 to 20 seconds, during which the caster completely exhausts herself. The strain is so great that the caster will be unable to cast a spell for at least a day's time. She is likely to immediately lose consciousness after casting, and may become unable to move or even stand for hours or days. No form of healing can reduce the caster's exhaustion.

Trivia

  • The Event Horizon treasure is an original creation by one of Hyrule Castle's members. Its concept is credited to Doc Genz.
  • The initial half of Event Horizon is similar to the initial half of Void Wave, as both create a magical sphere of energy overhead.
