Evil Crystals are a material to be used in crafting by an Outfitter. These crystals appear as matte fist-sized gems of a dark violet color, though they typically become more black when forged into armor or clothing. Supposedly, these crystals are created after a person feels a profound emotion of being wronged, or perceiving an act of heartless evil, hence the name. This treasure represents an ample supply of crystals to be worked into armor or cloth.
An appropriately skilled Outfitter can use a single supply of Evil Crystals to craft a garment, which most cover the user's torso (or at least occupy the torso slot) to be effective. The wearer take less than half the damage from Shadow-based attacks. This can effectively negate the Shadow Weakness held by Fairies, or other, similar weaknesses. A particularly skilled Outfitter can combine Evil Crystals with other materials to combine their effects into one product.
Trivia
- Like Evil Crystals protect from shadow, similar materials can provide protection from other danger sources: Dodongo Hide protects from heat, White Hide protects from cold, Silver Scales protect from drowning and water damage, Lightning Weave Cloth protects from electricity, and Gratitude Crystals protect from Light damage.
- The Evil Crystals (material) treasure canonically appears in the Zelda series, initially in Skyward Sword. More information about the canonical version of this treasure can likely be found on Zelda Wiki. Their effect is not explicitly explained in canon, however.
