A Cloud Seed appears as a small, solid white fruit, with a bumpy exterior that causes it to superficially resemble a cloud. This single seed is pure and potent, and as such can be useful as a material to be used by a Botanist. By contrast, a Cloud Seed Supply is a collection of less pure seeds which retain the same practical use, but cannot be grown and cultivated by a Botanist. Using just four of these potent seeds, a skilled Botanist can cultivate a Cloud Seed Supply.
When a Cloud Seed itself is struck against a hard surface, the fruit bursts apart to release a white gas, not unlike smoke, that forms into a platform resembling a cloud at the point of impact. Once fully formed, the cloud becomes mostly solid, albeit soft, and will hover in place for about a minute, before fully dissipating. During this time, the cloud is able to support a weight of up to a hundred pounds without sinking, but will begin to descend at varying rates with weight which exceeds this amount.
Seed Effects
By using three Cloud Seeds, along with at least three other seeds, a Botanist is able to create a Seed Supply with one of the following effects. These effects will combine with the effects of other seed types used as materials.
Effect Name | Description of Effect |
---|---|
Roil | By cracking open this seed into water, up to three cubic feet of the liquid will rapidly begin to boil, until all of it has boiled off into steam. The seed has no apparent effect on larger bodies of water. |
Mind | Ingestion of this seed lightens the thoughts of the user, allowing for greater concentration of spell-casting. For a minute's time, the user is treated as if he had an additional level of Magic Power with respect a single spell he can cast. Repeated ingestion of a seed with this effect is dangerous, causing crippling migraines if a second is ingested within an hour of the first. No more than two should ever be ingested within a single day. |
Walk | While tightly grasping this seed, the holder's feet are surrounded by protective clouds, allowing him to slowly but safely cross dangerous or otherwise unstable surfaces, such as water or lava. The seed is expended of energy after a minute. |
Bridge | Similar in effect to the base seed, a supply with this effect can be used to create a line of solid cloud, as opposed to a platform. Upon cracking open the seed, the user indicates some area within 30 meters, at which point a cloud bridge will arc to that point from where they are standing. The bridge is wide enough only to accommodate one person's passage at a time, but its weight limits are effectively doubled. |
Gravity Punch | After one seed is eaten, the next the next physical contact the eater makes will cause the enemy to suffer incredibly harsh gravity for a moment, often causing the target to fall backward or collapse onto the ground. Indirect hits, such as from a sword or projectile, are unaffected. |
Mule | When breaking open a seed from a supply with this effect, the user can rub the oils from the seed an some inanimate object. Small wisps of clouds will surround the object and lift it into the air, and will closely follow the user for several hours. The user can only have a few such objects following him at one time, and these objects combined cannot weigh more than approximately |
Elixir Effects
Cloud Seeds can also be combined with specific quantities of other seeds to create a PerQuest Elixir with one of the following effects. As usual, the Botanist is able to produce multiple elixirs if her Botanist level is high enough.
Elixir Name | Seeds | Resulting Effect |
---|---|---|
Choking Mists | 1 Cloud + 1 Smoke | By uncorking this bottle and aiming it in a direction, a billowing cloud of mist will be expelled forth, covering an area of roughly fifteen cubic feet. The mist is nearly impossible to see through, and those unfortunate enough to breath it in are overcome with the need to cough inconsolably. Notably, the mist itself is not so potent as to cause lethal asphyxiation in an able-bodied target even with prolonged exposure. |
Bottled Cushion | 1 Cloud + 1 Compact | By breaking this bottle open against a surface, a large billowing cloud is released, covering a circular area with a diameter of twenty feet. Any objects to fall within this area are gently caught, and let to the ground. |
Thunder Cloud | 2 Cloud + 2 Crackle | Uncorking this bottle unleashes a tiny thundercloud, which will follow the user for an hour. During this time, the user may indicate a target in range by merely pointing at it, at which point the cloud will relentlessly fire Magic Bolts at the target every 90 seconds. Like the spell, these projectiles can be reflected and rebounded by strikes against them. |
Air Walk | 2 Cloud + 2 Pegasus | By ingesting this potion, the user is able to walk at a calm pace through the air as easily as he might walk on the ground, for a duration of ten minutes. He cannot jog nor run, and can only walk upward and downward at slants of about 30 degrees or less. |
Mobile Baba | 2 Cloud + 2 Baba | This bottled fertilizer can be spread across an area up to thirty feet (or 10 meters) across. Seconds after it is placed, up to three carnivorous Deku Baba plants will sprout up, each about as tall as an adult Hylian. Each springs out of the ground, rooted deeply in a cloud, granting the Babas mobility. Each is able to move at roughly the walking pace of a Hylian. |
Trivia
The Cloud Seed (material) treasure is an original creation by one of Hyrule Castle's members. Its concept is credited to WillowtheWhisp.
