Detecting Dust usually appears as silvery spores, which are beautiful but seemingly mundane pollen. A Weaponsmith or Outfitter can imbue this material into any item he can craft. When crafting the item, the dust must be mixed with organic matter of a living creature for it to be of use. The item must also encompass at least 8 rupees' worth of materials aside from Detecting Dust.
The user of the crafted item can activate and deactivate the dust's property at will, but only while they are touching the item. While active, if the item grows near to any entity of the same species as the creature's, the item will begin to audibly hum and slightly vibrate. The sound grows louder the closer it grows to the species. As a general rule, the item cannot detect a creature beyond a distance of about 100 meters (or roughly 330 feet).
Multiple instances of Detecting Dust can be worked into one item. For each instance, the item can detect one additional species of creature. Due to the nature of the material, it can never be used to detect mechanical entities nor any undead beings.
