Morphstone is a material which may be used by a Weaponsmith to create a weapon or shield. An Outfitter may use Morphstone to create wearable items, as well. It tends to appear as a white stone of which the color changes to reflect the emotion the holder is experiencing. For example, if one is exceptionally angry, it will glow red; exceptionally sad, it will glow blue; etc.
When an object crafted with Morphstone comes into contact with another object of like-kind also crafted with Morphstone, such as a weapon with another weapon, and both are filled with the wielder’s intent, they combine with one another. At any point after, the wielder may repeat this process of filling the object with their intent to have it swap between the two objects, a process which takes several seconds to occur. If the object is struck or interrupted during this process, the transformation is halted and must be repeated. More than two objects may be combined in this way, and the wielder may decide which of the possible forms the object takes when the transformation is initiated.
In practice, this means a single Morphstone weapon could shift from battleaxe, to sword, to mace, to lance, and more. Each form retains its original properties- if one form contains mirror silver, it will always be so, but the other forms will not unless they were forged with the same material. A Morphstone item may have no more than five forms in total.
Morphstone items can only shift between related forms. A gauntlet may not become a helmet, but a weapon can become any other weapon, for instance.
If an object is imbued with Soul Stones, it retains its consciousness throughout all forms, but can only use any special abilities granted to it by the Soul Stone material while in its proper form.
In the event that you would willingly want a fused separated, a separate purchase of Morphstone would need to be made.
Trivia
- The Morphstone (material) treasure is an original creation by one of Hyrule Castle's members. Its concept is credited to Cataphractoi.
