A Powder Keg is a moderate-sized barrel containing the most potent (and volatile) materials the most renowned of Bombsmiths have mustered. It was the Gorons' most impressive export before the fall of Death Mountain, and the items have now become incredibly rare. The sheer force of one of these explosive items can produce is the standard by which all other impacts are judged. It's effectively equivalent to ten standard Bombs detonating simultaneously at one single point. There is nothing, short of perhaps Ganon himself, it cannot obliterate in one successful hit. A single Powder Keg is usually accompanied with fuse of varying length, but never shorter than 5 seconds. Less time prevents the keg's placer to flee behind the safety of a protective barricade. A keg can explode prematurely if it receives a strong impact, or if it's set aflame.

As a Supply treasure, a Powder Keg Supply grants the user an effectively infinite supply of these viciously-potent explosives. The user doesn't have a truly infinite amount, but it is assumed he refills his supply between adventures. The user requires a separate and suitable means of storing them--such as a warehouse, a caravan, or an Adventure Pouch completely dedicated to these Powder Kegs. This is a Major treasure. A character who has never gained a Major treasure may gain this treasure normally. Otherwise, the character must first acquire Major Gain specifically to gain this treasure.

Variant: Superbomb Suppply

In place of Powder Kegs, a user may gain or use Superbombs as a variant. These have an almost identical size, weight, function, and effect. However, they appear not as brown barrels, but as massive red Bombs, spherical in shape.

Trivia

  • The Bomb Bag is a similar which provides a supply of explosives. Such Bombs are much weaker in power, but easier to use, and less expensive.
  • The Superbomb treasure canonically appears in A Link to the Past, whereas a Powder Keg canonically appears in Majora's Mask. More information about the canonical versions of these treasures can likely be found on Zelda Wiki.
