Inheritance is an exclusive racial perk of Poes. As such, a Poe can gain this treasure for free during character creation, but cannot gain it later on. Other races cannot obtain this treasure at all, but could emulate it with Unusual Background.

Rarely, a Poe is particularly fortunate, or unfortunate, in that it remembers portions of its former life, or is able to partially manifest its former body. Such a Poe may be created with an "inheritance" from its former life. In effect, the Poe can gain any one racial perk which belonged to the race of its former body. If the perk to be acquired requires multiple racial perk "slots," such as Four-Armed requiring two slots, Inheritance must also require additional slots as appropriate. Regardless of the required slots, the Poe is only able to inherit one other racial perk.

For example, a Poe created from a Goron's death may still remember how to throw a Goron Punch. Generally, only treasures which would be logical for the Poe to have can be gained in this way. For instance, a tangible item like a Boomerang or a Compass generally wouldn't be carried into the afterlife.
