Sun Stone is a material to be used by a weaponsmith in crafting a single melee weapon or shield, or by an outfitter in crafting a piece of armor, or another wearable accessory. The stone can even be crushed into a dye-like powder, then used by an armorer to create a piece of clothing.
The stone itself appears as a pale yellow rock, with consistency similar to granite. When crafted into an item, that item gains a magical property. When the item is exposed to natural sunlight, it absorbs energy from the sun's rays. After absorbing sunlight in this manner, the entire item glows with white natural light identical to that produced by the sun.
The longer the item remains exposed to the sun, the brighter the item will glow. It will reach maximum luminosity after about eight hours of uninterrupted exposure to direct sunlight. At this point, the item will glow so brightly that anyone who gazes directly upon it will suffer irritation as if looking directly at the sun. The item exudes so much light it can brightly light up virtually any room or corridor as if it was noon on a clear summer day.
When taken out of direct sunlight, the item will gradually lose its brightness. After one or two hours, it will fade until it appears like a normal, non-glowing item, until it is again exposed to sunlight.
Trivia
- This material's effect is similar to Glow Iron or Glow Seeds. Unlike Sun Stone, these materials allow a dim glow that never fades.
- This is an original treasure created by two of Hyrule Caste's members. Its concept is credited to Cloud and Guy.
