A given Poe Clock appears as a red pocket watch, though it always gives off an eerie feeling to all who gaze upon it to find the time. The clock's appearance beguiles its true purpose, however.
Whenever a certain button on the watch is pressed, time around the user will seem to completely pause for exactly 1 minute. Even the user's physical body is halted in time, completely immobile. The Poe Clock is the only physical item moving during this time, as it visibly counts down for 60 seconds. During this minute, the user's spirit--an ethereal version of his normal body--is able to maneuver through the environment and visibly observe anything his normal body would be able. Since his spirit is immaterial, however, he cannot directly affect or alter any physical objects he comes across. The user's spirit during this minute is considered to be undead, even if he is normally undead.
Once the minute has run out, the user's spirit will instantly snap back into his body, and normal time will resume as if nothing happened. The Poe Clock's second hand will visibly move in the opposite direction, signaling that 60 seconds of normal time must pass before its ability can be used again.
Trivia
- A Sacred Circle can be used to prevent a user of this item from sneaking and seeing into a place he doesn't belong.
- A Poe Clock canonically appears in the Zelda series, initially in Oracle of Ages. It had no apparent effect in that game other than telling time, and was given a unique special ability on Hyrule Castle.
