A Drift Quill, also known as a Drift Pen, appears as a small quill with a dimly glowing tip. It is designed to be held as a writing utensil. When gripped tightly and in a specific manner, it is capable of producing ink that writes on the air. In this manner, the quill can be used to draw or write messages which hover in mid-air. This illusory ink glows dimly, and thus can be seen even in pitch darkness. Any messages which appear in mid-air will vanish in a strong breeze, or if left on their own for several minutes.

The Drift Quill can also function as a regular writing instrument, with glowing ink which never seems to run out. Ink written on a normal surface does not fade any faster than normal ink.

Trivia

  • Drift Quill is remarkably similar to False Quill. Whereas Drift Quill writes highly visible messages, False Quill writes messages that are difficult to be seen.
  • The Drift Quill treasure is an original creation by one of Hyrule Castle's members. Its concept is credited to Guy.
