A Breath Seed has a light-blue, fluffy texture similar to cotton, and similar in size to a pea. This single seed is pure and potent, and as such can be useful as a material to be used by a Botanist. By contrast, a Breath Seed Supply is a collection of less pure seeds which retain the same practical use, but cannot be grown and cultivated by a Botanist. Using just four of these potent seeds, a skilled Botanist can cultivate a Breath Seed Supply.
The only significant effect of a Breath Seed occurs immediately after it is eaten, but only if it is eaten in an area of breathable air. The consumer then becomes able to breathe clean, fresh air in any environment for a period lasting nearly an hour. During this period, the user also happens to have fresh, clean-smelling breath. Another seed can be eaten immediately after this period, but again requires the eater to be an area of breathable air.
When used by a Botanist, these seeds are useful for creating an effect related to breathing, speaking, or sound.
Seed Effects
By using three Breath Seeds, along with at least three other seeds, a Botanist is able to create a Seed Supply with one of the following effects. These effects will combine with the effects of other seed types used as materials.
Effect Name | Description of Effect |
---|---|
Breath | The normal effect of a Breath Seed occurs. |
Listen | So long as one seed is held tightly in the user's palm, the user's ability to hear over long distances, selective hearing ability, and hearing clarity are all increased to roughly triple their normal levels. |
Message | Immediately after eating the seed, the user can focus on any individual she can see, and send them a brief spoken telepathic message. The recipient becomes aware that someone is speaking to them, and can discern the origin of the sound as easily as if they heard it aloud. |
Ventriloquism | Immediately after eating the send, the user can project a vocalized sound to any location he can see. The user's lips don't appear to move while making this sound. |
Volume | So long as the user holds this seed tightly in her palm, or immediately after it is eaten, any sounds the user makes are roughly tripled in volume. |
Mute | Immediately after this seed is eaten by, or impacts against, a creature, that creature becomes unable to speak or make other vocalizations for one to two minutes. |
Elixir Effects
Breath Seeds can also be combined with specific quantities of other seeds to create a PerQuest Elixir with one of the following effects. As usual, the Botanist is able to produce multiple elixirs if her Botanist level is high enough.
Elixir Name | Seeds | Resulting Effect |
---|---|---|
Echo Potion | 2 Breath + 2 Pegasus | After drinking this tonic, the user's voice will become extremely enhanced. Speaking at a normal tone will cause horrific noise. Shouting will cause sonic booms that may rupture glass or cause temporary deafness to unprotected ears. This effect lasts at most a couple minutes, and generally leaves the user's throat quite sore. |
Fire Breath Potion | 4 Breath + 4 Ember | After drinking this potion, the user is able to magically breathe fire after any deep exhalation. The flames do not harm the user, even if they are reflected. This effect lasts less than a couple minutes. |
Ice Breath Potion | 4 Breath + 4 Chill | After drinking this potion, the user is able to magically breathe icy cold after any deep exhalation. This coldness does not harm the user, even if it is reflected. This effect lasts less than a couple minutes. |
Thunder Breath Potion | 4 Breath + 4 Crackle | After drinking this potion, the user is able to magically breathe sparks of electricity after any deep exhalation. This electricity does not harm the user, even if it is reflected. This effect lasts less than a couple minutes. |
Vile Breath | 4 Breath + 4 Smoke | For a brief period after drinking this potion, the user can exhale a cloud of poisonous gas, which covers an area with a diameter of about nine feet (or 3 meters). When this gas touched or breathed in, a person will immediately begin to experience nausea, dizziness, and stomach pains that persist for several minutes. Continued exposure may cause incapacitation, and loss of consciousness. Any creature who is directly fed the gas, as if it is blown directly in their face, will almost surely be out for at least a day. This cloud does not harm the one who exhaled. This cloud can only be produced once per potion. |
Red Potion | 3 Breath + 3 Baba + 3 Gasha | When the potion is consumed, the drinker will be immediately revitalized and healed of all non-fatal physical injuries, but not afflictions such as poisons, diseases, or curses. |
Trivia
- The Breath Seed (material) treasure is an original creation by one of Hyrule Castle's members. Its concept is credited to Guy.
- The Red Potion canonically appears in the Zelda series, initially in The Legend of Zelda. More information about the canonical version of the potion can likely be found on Zelda Wiki.
- Most other Seed Effects and Elixir Effects are original creations of Hyrule Castle's members.
