Mushroom Spores appear as an orange dust with a bizarre odor, collected from specific varieties of mushrooms. On their own, these spores seem to have no significant effect. However, a Weaponsmith can use these as a material when crafting a weapon.
The crafted weapon is magically nonlethal. Any injury it would inflict that could cause permanent injury is pulled back just enough to only cause a minor injury. A mace swing with bone-breaking force is pulled back enough to only cause a severe bruise. An axe intended to chop off a wrist only cuts it. The resulting injury is still painful, but will almost always be nonlethal. Attacks to particularly sensitive spots, such as the eyes or neck, may still cause permanent injury. The spores aren't flawless, and can allow death if the wielder is both powerful and is blatantly reckless.
Trivia
- In effect, this material gives a weapon a built-in Nonlethal Enchantment.
- The Mushroom Spores (material) treasure is an original creation by one of Hyrule Castle's members. Its concept is credited to Guy.
