Fairy Tears is a defensive spell, and a exclusive racial perk for Ascending Fairies. As such, an Ascending Fairy can choose to gain it as a perk upon character creation. Since this is an exclusive perk, other races cannot acquire it as a treasure.

Most Ascending Fairies have an innate power to heal others. Those who haven't mastered proper healing magic often rely instead on the Fairy Tears ability. To use it, all an Ascending Fairy must do is touch her fingertips to another being, and focus her magical powers into it. In less than a second, that being is relieved of all injuries, pain, and fatigue. The being is filled with energy, and an innately good feeling. This effect does not, however, relief curses, poisons, diseases, unconciousness, or infections. In exchange, the Fairy who used this ability will lose consciousness within a few seconds of using the spell, and remain that way for approximately 8 hours, unable to wake even with the power of other treasures.

Trivia

  • A comparable effect can be achieved without sacrifice through the more costly Life spell.
  • Although Fairy Tears can't relieve poisons and diseases, Detox can. Likewise, Revive can relieve unconsciousness while Fairy Tears cannot.
  • The Fairy Tears treasure does not appear verbatim within the official Zelda series. However, it can be interpreted to exist from context.
