A Bomb Flower appears as a small leafy plant with a fist-sized spherical black explosive growing out of it, known commonly as a "bomb." A bomb is highly volatile, and will explode abruptly if exposed to flame or struck. If a bomb is forcefully pulled from the plant, it will defensively light a "fuse" lasting about five seconds. When the fuse runs out, the bomb will explode violently. Once a bomb explodes or is removed from the flower, another will grow to replace it within seconds.
With proper preparation, the fuse can be extinguished and the bomb can be stored, but will the bomb's explosive properties will be inert after a minute's time if not placed in a Bomb Bag.
For a Botanist, a Bomb Flower never costs more than 10 rupees. An appropriately skilled Botanist is able to use a Bomb Flower as a material. In doing so, he can combine the explosive effect with any other seeds, fruits, or vegetables to create a supply of the resulting hybrid. The hybrid will detonate with a spark, source of heat, or strong impact, and detonates with approximately 2/3 the magnitude of a normal bomb.
Normally, this treasure only provides a single flower. An appropriately skilled Botanist with this treasure is able to cultivate over time as many Bomb Flowers as he wishes, though each one takes at least a day to grow to the point it can produce a bomb. If he intends to use a Bomb Flower as a material, however, he must pay the normal cost of the treasure to do so (even if he's acquired the treasure previously).
Trivia
- The more costly Bomb Bag treasure offers a more ready supply of bombs, which can be produced anytime and anywhere.
- The Bomb Flower treasure canonically appears in the Zelda series, initially in Ocarina of Time. More information about the canonical version of this treasure can likely be found on Zelda Wiki.
