'''Splinter Crystals''' produce some of the sharpest edges known to Hyrule, and are considered highly valuable for that quality. Typically, they appear as a dull blue crystalline formation, much like Crimson Granite, though more unusual colors have been discovered. In addition to sustaining an edge thus far unmatched by any other material, it also possesses the ability to slowly grow into a shape it has been molded into. Splinter Crystals produce some of the sharpest edges known to Hyrule, and are considered highly valuable for that quality. Typically, they appear as a dull blue crystalline formation, much like Crimson Granite, though more unusual colors have been discovered. In addition to sustaining an edge thus far unmatched by any other material, it also possesses the ability to slowly grow into a shape it has been molded into. This causes it to slowly repair itself, mending the cracks and chips that are commonplace in Splinter Crystal blades, due to its innate frailty.
A Woodworker material with a similar effect is known as Everwood. The Splinter Crystal (material) treasure is an original creation by one of Hyrule Castle's members. Its concept is credited to Razgriz.
