Phantasmal Flame is a Material which can be used by a Blacksmith, Woodworker, or Tailor to create a weapon, piece of armor, or other appropriate object. A wisp of this flame appears as a burning, transparent purple flame. The flame is said to belong belonging to a vengeful poe whose regrets tie him to the material world.
A weapon skillfully soaked in Phantasmal Flame by a skilled crafter gains the ability to become ethereal. When ethereal, the affected weapon has the ability to phase through all non-living objects as if they had never existed; however, it is incapable of phasing through organic beings (to include undead beings).
Armor or clothing affected by Phantasmal Flame also gains the ability to become ethereal. When ethereal, the affected armor becomes transparent and weightless. Organic objects are still deflected by this invisible armor, but physical objects pass through effortlessly.
Whether weapon or armor, the affected item's transformation into its ethereal form, or back into its physical form, takes several seconds. What triggers the change depends on how the item is crafted, but is usually a phrase or gesture. Once the change is triggered, there's a delay of a few seconds before the transformation is complete.
Trivia
The Phantasmal Flame treasure is an original creation by Hyrule Castle's members. Its concept is credited to Eevachu and Clooby.
