Type | Offensive Organic Item |
Fields | Bomb, Seed |
Cost | 3 rupees |
A Bomb Seed appears as a black, cherry-like seed. A hard impact against the seed will cause it to explode with a loud bang and a bright burning flash, similar to a firecracker.
This single seed is pure and potent, and as such can be useful as a material to be used by a Botanist. By contrast, a Bomb Seed Supply is a collection of less pure seeds which retain the same practical use, but cannot be grown and cultivated by a Botanist. Using just four of these potent seeds, a skilled Botanist can cultivate a Bomb Seed Supply.
When used by a Botanist, these seeds are useful for creating an effect related to the Bomb field.
Seed Effects
By using three Bomb Seeds, along with at least three other seeds, a Botanist is able to create a Seed Supply with one of the following effects. These effects will combine with the effects of other seed types used as materials.
Effect Name | Description of Effect |
---|---|
Bomb | The normal effect of a Bomb Seed occurs. |
Bombproof | So long as this seed is gripped tightly in the user's palm, the user is mostly protected from Bomb-based explosions he himself creates. This doesn't protect from explosions which intentionally harm the user, such as the Bomb Mask or the Kamikaze effect of Bomb Seeds. This effect is similar to that of the Bombproof Ring. |
Kamikaze | A moment after this seed is eaten, an explosion detonates outward from the user's body. The user is damaged with a portion of this power, but most of it is directed outward in all directions. |
Explosive Punch | After one seed is eaten, the next forceful physical contact the eater makes will detonate with an explosion roughly half as powerful as a normal Bomb. The explosion will detonate with an impact such as a punch, kick, headbutt, or step. Indirect hits, such as from a sword or projectile, are unaffected. |
Elixir Effects
Bomb Seeds can also be combined with specific quantities of other seeds to create a PerQuest Elixir with one of the following effects. As usual, the Botanist is able to produce multiple elixirs if her Botanist level is high enough.
Elixir Name | Seeds | Resulting Effect |
---|---|---|
Aquatic Bomb Fluid | 1 Bomb + 1 Breath | This oil can be applied to a Bomb Flower, a Bomb Bag, a Supply of other explosives, or an individual explosive. For roughly a day's time, all affected bombs will be able to detonate and explode underwater, even if they normally could not. |
Remote Bomb Fluid | 4 Bomb + 4 Hyoi | This oil can be applied to a Bomb Flower, a Bomb Bag, a Supply of other explosives, or an individual explosive, so long as that explosive normally detonates with a timer. For roughly a day's time, all affected bombs will be able to detonate with a mental cue from the owner, instead of detonating over a period of time as normal. The owner can only place one remotely-triggered explosive at a time, however. |
Jelly Bomb Fluid | 4 Bomb + 4 Deku | This oil can be applied to a Bomb Flower, a Bomb Bag, a Supply of other explosives, or an individual explosive. For roughly a day's time, whenever a bomb is thrown or set, it will abruptly secrete an extremely stick sap, making it difficult to remove from whatever it contacts. |
Blast Coating | 4 Bomb + 4 Razor | This oil can be applied to one ore more melee weapons, or the tips of an ammunition supply, in advance. On the next impact, the affected weapon will create an explosion on impact comparable half the force of a normal Bomb. Using this effect more than a few times, even on steel weapons, can end up destroying the weapon. Regardless, once this effect begins, it fades in less than a couple minutes. |
Bomb Effects
Uniquely, Botanists are able to cultivate Bomb Flowers and functional Bomb Bags, and related treasures, from Bomb Seeds.
Treasure | Materials Used |
---|---|
Bomb Flower | 2 Bomb Seeds |
Bomb Bag | 2 Bomb + 2 Compact + 1 Dodongo Hide |
Bombchu Supply | 2 Bomb + 2 Compact + 4 Pegasus + 1 Dodongo Hide |
Bombling Supply | 2 Bomb + 2 Compact + 4 Magic + 1 Dodongo Hide |
Notably, when creating any of the four treasures above, the Botanist can create a supply of Bombs that is permanently affected by an enchantment spell by mixing in four seeds of an appropriate type.
Added Seeds | Effective Enchantment |
---|---|
4 Ember | Fire Enchantment |
4 Chill | Ice Enchantment |
4 Crackle | Shock Enchantment |
4 Gale | Wind Enchantment |
4 Smoke | Shadow Enchantment |
4 Glow | Light Enchantment |
Trivia
- The Bomb Seed (material) treasure is an original creation by one of Hyrule Castle's members. Its concept is credited to Guy.
