Tendrils of Darkness is a bizarre technique which enables the user to manipulate his shadow, and grasp enemies or objects with shadow-like tentacles formed by his shadow.
Upon gaining this technique, the user gains direct control on the direction his shadow falls. It takes little to no concentration for the user to move the direction his shadow faces, nor how long it stretches.
With a couple seconds of deep concentration, the user's shadow takes the shape of many tendrils that have the ability to bind any being caught in the grasp of his shadow. The tendrils themselves are only able to reach about six inches above the ground, but are strong enough to grasp even a Darknut's ankles and keep them pinned to the ground, or to cause a running person to trip. These tendrils are fairly weak to attack, however, and can be broken apart with a weapon attack, or ripped apart by hand relatively easily.
Once one of the tendrils is broken or ripped apart, they all retreat back into the user's shadow at once, and cannot be manifested again for about two minutes. Even if user cannot manifest tendrils, he is nonetheless able to move his shadow around, as normal.
Trivia
- Other ground-based traps include Quicksand, Electric Trap, and Fire Glyph.
- The Tendrils of Darkness treasure is an original creation by one of Hyrule Castle's members. Its concept is credited to Devil-Steel.
