Eyebeam is a simple but useful offensive spell. To cast it, all the user must do is focus intensely on any one object he can see. If executed properly, his eyes will begin to glow a bright color. After one or two more seconds of concentration, laser-like beams of heat will shoot from his eyes, burning whatever he sees. These beams will last for several seconds at most, and usually inflict minor pain on the caster's eyes. The beams have a seemingly infinite range, and the first object struck will feel intense heat--comparable to touching boiling water.

Instead of shooting two beams from the caster's eyes, he may choose to instead fire one beam from his mouth--or more specifically, the back of his throat. He must hold his mouth open will concentrating, and it will glow in a similar fashion to eyes immediately prior to the beam's launch. This is roughly as powerful as the two separate eye beams, but generally less convenient and slightly more painful on the caster.

Normally, this spell can be cast once every three minutes. With one level of Magic Power, it can be cast once per minute. With two levels of Magic Power, it can be cast once every 20 seconds or so.

Although Eyebeam normally inflicts mild Light-based damage, it can harm the target in other ways if the caster meets certain criteria.

  • Dark Beams: If the user has a Shadow Specialty, has a Dark Affinity, has a Shadow Enchantment, or is Undead, she can cause the beams to be pitch-black, inflicting Shadow-based damage instead of Light-based. The treasure also becomes part of the Light field.
  • Ice Beams: If the user has an Ice Specialty, a Frigid Composition, or an Ice Enchantment, she can cause the beams to be painfully cold instead of hot. The treasure also becomes part of the Ice field.
  • Heat Beams: If the user has a Fire Specialty, an Infernal Composition, or a Fire Enchantment, she can cause the beams to ignite the target if it is flammable, though the temperature is only slightly hotter. The treasure also becomes part of the Fire field.
  • Electro-Beams: If the user has an Electric Specialty or a Shock Enchantment, she can cause the beams to electrically shock the target. The treasure also becomes part of the Electric field.

Augment

Elemental Eyes
Additional
Cost
8 rupees

The user can gain the Elemental Eyes augment simultaneously with the original treasure for an additional cost, or as a separate treasure at a later time. The caster is able to create one additional type of Eyebeam she otherwise would not be able to create: Ice Beams, Heat Beams, Dark Beams, or Electro-Beams.

This augment can be gained multiple times. Each time it is gained, the caster gains access to one new form of Eyebeams.

Trivia

  • An Eyebeam Potion can be created by a sufficiently skilled Botanist to achieve the same effect, by combining 4 Glow Seeds with 4 Pegasus Seeds. Unlike this spell, the potion enables the user to shoot many rapid eyebeams for a short period.
  • The Eyebeam treasure is an original creation by one of Hyrule Castle's members. Its concept is credited to LuckyEights.
