Spine Spores are pale green, powdery seed-like items, about a dozen of which can fit in a typical adult's palm. This treasure provides a Supply of these spores. When used by adventurers and thieves, they are normally stored in a specialized pouch, as they react when exposed to moisture or sunlight.
If a Spine Spore feels open sunlight, touches water, or is exposed to even moderate humidity for at least a couple seconds, it will abruptly transform. This sudden transformation makes an audible pop, the whole process reminiscent of a corn kernel popping into popcorn. The spore's new form is notable for bearing several sturdy iron spikes up to an inch long, each of which is capable of puncturing a boot if stepped on. These transformed spores are also highly adhesive, and will stick to nearly any dry surface with tenacity.
Spine Spores are very flammable, and can be burned into this air almost as soon as they are ignited. Some forest-roaming adventurers often keep treasures like Spark or Ember Seeds handy for the express purpose of dealing with errant Spine Spores.
