The subcategories within appropriately divide treasures into three, by their origin:

  • Canonical Treasures appeared verbatim in the official Zelda series, and have been interpreted into Hyrule Castle. Names were given to treasures whose names are canonically unknown.
  • Borderline Treasures did not appear verbatim in the official Zelda series, but either could be interpreted to exist by clues in the series, or appeared in other media related to the main series.
  • Original Treasures were created by a current or former member of Hyrule Castle.
