Field is a term used throughout the Library of Treasures. In this context, a field is a broad category of treasures which share a similar theme or purpose. For example, Fire is a field. As such, all treasures which are related to fire--including flames and heat--are considered to be in that field.
The existence of fields serves two primary purposes. First and foremost, it organizes treasures in such a way that users can more easily find specific types of treasures. Secondly, some effects affect all treasures in a specific field. In particular, the Specialty treasure enables the user to "specialize" in a field, reducing the rupee costs of treasures in that field.
Fields are grouped into five divisions: element fields, task fields, implement fields, race fields, and out-of-character fields.
Element Fields
A treasure within an element field is attributed in some way to a concept of nature, or of reality itself--such as Fire, Shadow, or Time.

- Cut field concerns or involves a cutting, slicing, or stabbing phenomenon; such as from a sword, a magical slice, etc.
- Earth field concerns or involves dirt, stone, sand, metal, or lava.
- Electric field concerns or involves electricity, to include sparks and lightning.
- Fire field concerns or involves heat, flames, or lava.
- Force field concerns or involves any unseen force, which pushes, pulls, or impacts; such as magnetism or gravity, or fantastical equivalents.
- Forest field concerns or involves plants, wood, seeds, woodlands, and related phenomenon. It does not imply correlation with animals.
- Ice field concerns or involves cold, ice, snow, or sleet.
- Light field concerns, is attributed to, or involves physical light, magical illumination, shunning evil or undead creatures, or the interpretation of light driving away evil or darkness.
- Shadow field concerns, is attributed to, or involves physical darkness (the lack of light), magical shadows, or the interpretation of shadow being an antagonist to the forces of good and light.
- Sound field concerns, is attributed to, or involves magical or unusual sound, manipulation of sound, or effects triggered through hearing specific sounds
- Time field concerns or involves the manipulation of the normal flow of time, or is attributed to time in some other way.
- Water field concerns or involves water--freshwater or saltwater--but generally does not include strictly ice, snow, or sleet.
- Wind field concerns or involves breezes, gusts, tornadoes, hurricanes, and other forms of moving air.
Task Fields
A treasure within a task field involves or performs a specific task--such as to Travel, to Heal, or to Trap.

- Travel field enables or enhances the user's or an ally's ability to travel a desired distance, or through a desired medium, including both short distances and long distances.
Implement Fields
A treasure within an implement field is, requires, or is in some way attributed to an implement--such as a Cane, a Seed, or a piece of Headgear. This category also includes abilities which require the implement.

Out-of-Character Fields
A treasure with an out-of-character field is in some way not in the imaginary world, but fundamentally different from the treasure system's standpoint. A PerQuest treasure can only be used once per quest, but a character in Hyrule wouldn't be able to tell that.

- PerQuest field can only be activated during a quest or dungeon, and can only be activated a limited number of times.
- PWC field affects an aspect of the user's PWC, to include costs based on PWC.
- Rupee field affects rupee gain, or rupee loss, of a character.

Stock items are not treated as infinite, but instead assumes that the character routinely refills his her her stock on such a regular basis, that he or she always has enough of the item available.
