When the Octo Ring is worn on one's finger like any other ring, it will transform the wearer into a common Octorok. This Octorok form will have an unusual visual color, shape, or other cue that hints it isn't a normal Octorok, but doesn't otherwise give away that the wearer isn't a true Octorok. All of the wearer's clothing and items will be consumed in the transformation. While an Octorok, the user can spit rocks, and physically act as an Octorok does, while retaining the soul and mind of their former self. Some spells or techniques can be used in this form, if using it does not require hands or other implements the Octorok lacks. At any point during this transformation, the user can will himself back into his former shape, causing the ring to appear in his palm. Any afflictions he gains in one form transfers to the other.
Trivia
- The Like-Like Ring similarly transforms the wearer into a monster. The Gibdo Mask can make the wearer appear as a monster, without actually changing his form.
- The Octo Ring treasure canonically appears in the Zelda series, initially in Oracle of Seasons & Oracle of Ages. More information about the canonical version of this treasure can likely be found on Zelda Wiki.
