Due to their race, the user possesses some form of aquatic breathing apparatus within their body which can be used alongside their air-breathing lungs, allowing them to be amphibious. Normally, this apparatus is trained from birth and can be used effectively from a young age, but using it is not instinctive to the race.
Amphibious is a distinct racial perk for Zora, Tokay, and Lizalfos. A character belonging to one such race can gain it as a perk upon character creation. If a Zora, Tokay, or Lizalfos decides to forgo gaining this perk, the character can gain the treasure at a later time for a static 30 rupees. Since this is a distinct perk, other races cannot acquire it as a treasure.
The Amphibious treasure canonically appears in the Zelda series, initially in The Legend of Zelda. While Zora can canonically breathe underwater, it has never been canonically proven that a Lizalfos or Tokay can do so as well.
