Gale Aura is a defensive wind spell, and a racial perk for Rito. As such, a Rito can choose to gain it as a perk upon character creation. If a Rito chooses to gain this perk at some point after creation, the perk costs 15 rupees less than the listed cost. The natural mentality of the Rito race enables them to use this technique easily. Because of this, a Rito can treat Gale Aura is either a spell or technique.

At will, the caster is able to surround herself in an whirlwind, hovering a few inches above the surface of her feathers, which delivers a powerful gust and minor cuts to any being (other than herself) who comes within one-to-two feet (or a 1/2 meter) of it. The gust is rarely enough to blow away any creature heavier than a Korok, but can be used to parry an oncoming attack, free oneself from a grapple, keep an attacker from getting too close, or other niche purposes.

This aura lasts approximately one-to-three seconds, and because of the strain it imposes on one's magic strength, this can normally only be manifested once every 3 minutes. With one level in Magic Power, it can be used once per minute. With two levels in Magic Power, it can be used once every 20 seconds. For the purpose of Gale Aura, a Rito is treated as though she has one more level in Magic Power than she actually does.
