Dowsing is a utility spell, useful for relocating objects the user once touched. This treasure is a racial perk for Kikwis. As such, a Kikwi can choose to gain it as a perk upon character creation. If a Kikwi chooses to gain this perk at some point after creation, the perk costs 15 rupees less than the listed cost.

Casting this spell requires two distinct components. First, the user must physically touch an object or being to be found, and mentally make a note to magically store the essence of that creature. How well and for how long this essence is stored seems to depend on the caster's memory, as it is usually forgotten if the caster doesn't make a mental note to remember it. It can be difficult to remember several essences at once, unless they are regularly used.

Once the caster has a dowsing essence, she can then imbue this essence into the tip of any oblong, nonliving instrument smaller than her--from a rod, to a sword, to a fork. The enchanted instrument will vibrate when its imbued tip is pointed in the direction of the object from which the essence was taken. If the object to be found is near, the instrument will vibrate more violently than if it is far. The instrument will continue to vibrate like this until it is affected by another spell, it touches the object to be found, or the caster places a Dowsing enchantment on a new instrument.

Augment

Multiple Instruments

The user can gain the Multiple Instruments augment simultaneously with the original treasure for an additional cost, or as a separate treasure at a later time. A caster with this augment is able to enchant up to 10 different instruments simultaneously, and can even enchant different instruments to locate different objects.
