The Book of Mudora was once a one-of-kind, legendary tome created by an ancient and unknown scholar. Since then, it has reproduced by aspiring sages.

While this book is open to a specific section, whenever words are spoken in a different language, words of the section's language will appear after a few seconds as an immediate and virtually flawless translation. (If open to the Hylian section, words spoken in Minish will be translated to Hylian script. If open to the Minish section, words spoken in Hylian will be translated to Minish.) This includes the Minish (Picori), Hylian, Twilit, and Ancient Hylian languages, among others, as well as countless others which no one can seem to identify. This does not, however, enable the user to communicate with creatures who do not use spoken languages. Since the book also acts as something of a multilingual dictionary, a skilled decipher can translate written text as well.

Trivia

  • The Book of Mudora treasure canonically appears in the Zelda series, initially in A Link to the Past. More information about the canonical version of this treasure can likely be found on Zelda Wiki.
  • The Jabber Nut has a similar effect of translating languages.
