Mirror Shot is a defensive spell. To cast it, all it requires is a moment's concentration and an open palm.
Once cast, a small and smooth black-colored orb appears in the user's palm, with weight and density comparable to a common rock. Once it is thrown at a high speed, the stone rapidly transforms mid-air into a perfectly smooth orb-shaped mirror. As soon as the mirrored orb hits a solid object, it splashes apart into a paint-like substance that harmlessly covers the struck surface with a mirror coating. Just as it reflects light, the mirror of this orb or paint is able to reflect magical projectiles, just like a Mirror Shield.
The orb or paint will immediately and harmlessly evaporate when certain conditions are met:
- If the orb is not immediately thrown with sufficient speed to transform into an orb.
- If the orb is not thrown a sufficient distance (about 6 feet, or 2 meters) before impact.
- If the user casts Mirror Shot again.
This spell is primarily used to coat an object with a reflective surface. With sufficient skill and luck, however, the user can throw the orb at an incoming projectile, and reflect it mid-flight.
Trivia
- Other treasures that can reflect magical projectiles include Mirror Shield, Reflect, and any item constructed from Mirror Silver. Nayru's Affection only works momentarily, but can reflect all forms of projectiles, not just magical ones.
- The Mirror Shot treasure is an original creation by one of Hyrule Castle's members. Its concept is credited to Guy.
