Life is a very powerful healing spell, intended primarily to restore health to allies. To cast it, the user first spends a few seconds of intent focus concentrating her magical power, then touches a nearby ally to channel a healing force into them. This healing force mends wounds, cures non-magical poisons, and rids the ally of non-fatal diseases. The spell cannot bring back the touched ally from death, but may bring them back from the brink of death or unconsciousness.

The caster can cast this spell on herself, but in doing so she must concentrate intently for approximately one full minute instead. The end result is the same. Regardless of the intended target, if the caster's concentration is interrupted, the spell cannot be completed, and she will need to start focusing over from the beginning.

A given recipient of Life can't benefit from the spell's restorative effects more than once every few minutes, even if it cast by different casters.

This is a Major treasure. A character who has never gained a Major treasure may gain this treasure normally. Otherwise, the character must first acquire Major Gain specifically to gain this treasure.

Trivia

  • Lesser spells such as Rejuvenation, Detox, and others, can do part of what the Life spell does.
  • As with most healing treasures, Life is half as effective on anyone with a Dark Affinity, and not at all effective on a Vampire.
