Beloved Visage is a technique that lets the user apply an illusion to their face and voice to become that of a different person or creature. The user cannot control what their face turns into specifically, as that instead varies from one viewer to another. The user’s face takes on the appearance of the perceiver’s most loved person or being. The illusion will always be either a person or a sentient creature, as it cannot replicate inanimate objects, though it can replicate animals or sentient plants. The user’s voice will also change to fit the facial illusion, mimicking the voice(or sounds, if the creature is incapable of speech) of the illusioned creature.

While wearing the illusion, the user can make minor manipulations to it, such as having the face appear to be rapidly decaying or ravaged by disease, as well as express emotion or speak. While this, paired with the vocal illusion, might be used to persuade or deceive any who view the user, most people will take notice if their “loved one” behaves in ways that are unusual for them, and this technique’s use imparts no knowledge on the behaviors of any creature mimicked by its effects. Furthermore, those with a lens of truth will not be fooled by these illusions, and those with an ear of truth will not hear the vocal illusion.

Resolute, willful, and intelligent beings may be shaken by the visage they see, but are usually wise enough to realize the truth of what they are seeing and overcome their fear if necessary.

Trivia

This treasure is a Twist. It is a variant on a treasure, Terror Mask, modified by The Twister, and is not normally obtainable.
