A Beamos Eye is a material an Outfitter can craft into a piece to be worn on the torso or head. As its name suggests, the Beamos Eye is a modified version of an eye literally taken from a Beamos. Depending on the type of Beamos, this material will likely resemble either a red gem or a more reptilian eye.
When properly crafted into an item, the Beamos Eye is visible on the surface of the item. It will only function if it is on the wearer's back--or the back of the wearer's head. Should the eye see an entity with a face, it will emit a loud mechanical hum for about one second, then shoot a laser beam just below the face--likely at the creature's neck or chest. The laser beam itself burns painfully, but is generally not enough to incapacitate anything of considerable strength. Regardless, the Beamos Eye will continue to hum then fire about once per second for so long as it can see the face. If there are multiple faces, it will attack the nearest one.
The eye is most often used to attack anyone attempting to sneak up on the wearer, particularly in dungeons or wilderness. To keep the eye from attacking allies or random passerby, the eye needs to be covered--as with a cloak, a blindfold, or some other fixture. On its own, the eye refuses to close unless struck--at which point it will only remain closed for about a minute.
