Animal Emissary is a short song, which has a special effect when played for a small docile animal, such as a squirrel, rat, little fish, or a small bird.

After the designated animal hears the song, it will approach the player of the song. The player may then speak a brief message or otherwise create a small sound, which the animal magically remembers. The player may also gently attach a small object to the creature for it to carry, including rupees. Finally, the player must mentally think of a specific person she knows, before finally sending the animal on its way.

The animal will then go towards the designated person at a speed appropriate to it, making adequate time to rest and eat. The animal is able to find the person with rough directional instincts. These instincts allow the animal to find even a person in hiding, but likely would be much slower than a traditional trained errant going to a specific address. Regardless, once it finds the targeted person, it will magically speak the recorded message and deliver the item, as appropriate. After that point it returns to being a normal animal.

The animal will always favor its own survival above all. It will not approach the player of the song if it threatens the animal, nor will it approach the target person if he or she is threatening.

Trivia

  • Commshell and Breeze Whisper can provide faster messages, but have other restrictions.
  • The Animal Emissary treasure is an original creation by one of Hyrule Castle's members. Its concept is credited to Guy.
