An Aroma Ring, also known as a Scent Ring, usually appears as a silver band adorned with a rose, tulip, or other pleasantly-smelling flower. For as long as the ring is worn, the wearer is surrounded by an enchantingly pleasing scent that causes anyone within approximately five feet of her to feel a seemingly unjustified attraction with the wearer. Particularly subservient or submissive personalities may be more inclined to obey the wearer, while an average and otherwise-indifferent being may be somewhat more inclined to impress or please her. The ring itself does not grant control over those afflicted, and may bring undesired affection. Any individual which has a previous disposition against the wearer will generally retain that disposition despite the ring's effects.

The ring will not affect a being without a sense of smell. A being with an extraordinary sense of smell, such as one wearing a Mask of Scents, will either be overwhelmed with attraction, or be able to decipher the scent so well that it's true nature is revealed, making it an easy effect to resist. The ring's effects begin to quickly fade once an afflicted individual is out of range. An afflicted individual has no inherent knowledge that he or she was affected, but may suspect it if the individual displayed unusual behavior.

As with all mind-controlling effects, use of the Aroma Ring is considered a crime in Hyrule. Since its effect is subtle and not dominating, it is generally considered a relatively minor offense--akin to petty theft.

The Aroma Ring has no effect on anyone in possession of a Moon Pearl.

Trivia

  • The Charmed Speech technique can have a similar effect of getting a target to feel affection for the user.
