A Mini-Portal is a smaller version of the more well-known Portal. While smaller and less capable than a full Portal, it is portable, and can be carried around on the user's person.

As with the larger variant, a Mini-Portal can appear in one of many forms; a swirling vortex of black mist, a staircase, a small hole in the ground, a glowing circle, or something else entirely. However, all Mini-Portals are magically-created objects which are anchored to a surface, and intended to be used to travel large distances quickly. There must be at least two Portals in a set to function. Simply put, any matter which goes through one will almost instantly come out the other, even if the two Mini-Portals are countless miles apart, or even in separate dimensions. Portals (or Mini-Portals) not of the same set cannot function together. Mini-Portals are limited in that they can be no more than 4 inches (or 10cm) across, and can only transport objects of this width or smaller.

If the user only has one Mini-Portal, it will not be able to teleport to any other Mini-Portal, so it will have no effect. Thus, at least two Mini-Portals are needed to provide any effect.

If Portals have more than two in their set, the Portals are assigned an order. In an example with three Portals, anything which goes into Portal A comes out Portal B; if something enters Portal B, it comes out Portal C; and if something enters Portal C, it comes out Portal A.

Unlike full Portals, a Mini-Portal can be placed inside a special container such as a bottle or a satchel, and do not have to be anchored to one spot on the ground. This enables them to be carried around conveniently. When the user gains this treasure, he finds or places a Mini-Portal in a container, or on the ground, either at his current location or a location he later visits. The designated location can never be changed without acquiring this treasure again.
