Monkey Companion
Type Companion
Cost 50 rupees

A monkey is a somewhat common companion, which normally grows no larger than a Hylian child. Compared to most animals, a trained monkey tends to be remarkably intelligent, and is capable of understanding most if not all of its owners' words. Furthermore, it is among one of the only animals which is capable of grasping objects like the more intelligent races can, making it a particularly valuable ally.

Normally, this treasure represents a monkey of a small-sized variety, which has been trained to follow the user's commands. As a general rule, it cannot be of greater size than a Hylian child or a Kokiri, and cannot be exceedingly skilled compared to other monkeys.

As an Unusual Companion

A monkey can be initially created as an Unusual Companion for 50 rupees. Alternatively, a monkey that was first acquired as a treasure can become an Unusual Companion for free. In either case, the player must be of at least Regular rank to have an Unusual Companion. The monkey must be submitted as its own character, following the usual character creation process.

Unlike a normal Monkey Companion, an Unusual Companion has its own PWC score, gains its own treasures, can act on its own, and can even be an effective combatant in its own right. It becomes able to speak if it gains a treasure such as Language of Fauna or a Jabber Nut. Needless to say, these exceptional monkeys are particularly rare in Hyrule.
