A Skulltula Suit, or Spider Suit, typically appears as off-white cloth or armor, with yellow and black accents. Aside from this normal form, the user can transform the suit into either (a) a swarm of spiders that can travel away from her, or (b) an attach to the lower half of her body, temporarily transforming her body to be more like a spider. Needless to say, the suit cannot assume more than one of these forms simultaneously.

Spider Swarm

First, the wearer can at any time cause the suit itself to dissolve into a swarm of tiny, harmless spiders which cannot bite nor directly attack. There are approximately one-thousand spiders, each of which is about the size of a large ant. The number and size will vary if the suit and its wearer are extremely large or extremely small, however.

These spiders are inherently obedient to the original wearer of the Spider Suit. They will be default cling to the user, or follow her if she moves. The user can provide simple vocal commands to the swarm, which they will follow to the best of their limited intelligence. The spiders will always travel and think as a swarm, and cannot separate into smaller groups by their own will (without the Spider Squads augment). As a group, the swarm can be commanded to go to specified locations, swarm and distract specified creatures, or to carry small objects. Similar simple commands are possible, but the spiders are never intelligent enough to provide information to the user, nor smart enough to swarm enemies in the most distracting way possible.

The swarm is afraid of flames, electricity, or similar elements. They will not attack a creature who is visibly wielding a flaming weapon, climb onto an object radiating a magical cold, nor anything else of the sort, even if directly commanded to do so.

At any time, the user can call off the swarm. This causes the suit to instantly reform on her body, and any survivors in the swarm simultaneously disappear. This can be done regardless of how far away the spiders are, or even if they have all died. As soon as the suit has reformed, the wearer may transform it into a new swarm of a thousand spiders.

Spider Limbs

Secondly, the wearer can cause the suit to transform the lower half of her body into a skulltula or spider. She can choose to be transformed from the neck down, or from the waist down. In either case, the transformed portion of her body becomes that of a giant spider body, complete with eight legs and the ability to create traditional spider webs. Furthermore, this form enables the user to effortlessly climb walls and even ceilings.

At any time, the user can transform back into her normal body, causing the Spider Suit to reappear. Any damage or injury sustained in one form is carried over to the other. If the user loses a limb in her spider form, for example, and transforms back into a bipedal form, one of her legs will be badly damaged.

10 rupees

The user can gain the Spider Squads augment simultaneously with the original treasure for an additional cost, or as a separate treasure at a later time.

This augment can be gained multiple times. Each time it is gained, the Spider Swarm created by this suit can be split into an additional group. Gaining it once allows the swarm to be split into two groups, gaining it twice allows three groups, and so on. Each group can be commanded individually as if it was its own swarm. Groups will split and rejoin as the user commands.

Trivia

  • The Mermaid Suit and the Serpent Suit each have an effect similar to Spider Limbs, transforming the wearer's lower half into a fish or snake respectively.
  • The Skulltula Suit treasure is an original creation by one of Hyrule Castle's members. Its concept is credited to Guy.
