Aversion Pelt is a material an Outfitter can imbue into any piece of armor or headwear he can craft. The pelt itself appears as a thin animal skin, usually of a dark gray color. Traditional Garo robes are infamously known to use this material. When making metallic armor, it is common for the pelt to be woven underneath the hard exterior.

Any attire made from an Aversion Pelt gains an unusual property. When a mundane Projectile is fired at the attire--or anyone wearing it--the projectile will gradually veer off course, almost always missing the wearer. The projectile seems to be pulled or pushed by an unseen force, such as magnetism or gravity. Notably, this does not affect any projectile created by a spell or magical item. Similarly, it does not affect any projectile that has been magically enchanted to stay on a true course, such as an arrow blessed by Straight Shooting.

Although the pelt virtually always protects from slow-moving mundane projectiles, such as those thrown by hand, it has a difficult time warding particularly fast projectiles shot from a short distance away. A well-aimed arrow, crossbow bolt, or cannonball blast can likely hit its mark if it is launched from a distance of less than roughly 30 feet (or 10 meters).

Trivia

  • This material makes for a strong combination with Mirror Silver, as one protects from mundane projectiles and the latter protects from magical ones.
  • The Aversion Pelt (material) treasure is an original creation by one of Hyrule Castle's members. Its concept is credited to Guy.
