A Cane of Somaria appears as a red cane with a rounded tip, of length usually equal to the wielder's arm. By pouring one's raw magic power into the cane and swinging it, a large stone cube will appear in a poof of smoke, immediately at the apex of the swing. The cube will not appear inside a solid object, but can appear inside an air or liquid. The cube's height, width, and depth are equal to half the height of the user. The cube itself is light enough that the wielder can lift it, but heavy enough that doing so is difficult. Indeed, the weight of the cube varies with the wielder's ability to lift it.
Swinging the rod again will cause the cube to vanish as immediately as it appeared.

The user can gain the Fire Cube augment simultaneously with the original treasure for an additional cost, or as a separate treasure at a later time. Gaining this augment requires the wielder to have the Fire spell (or a Fire Rod).
While the wielder has this augment, when he swings the cane to make the block disappear, the block will disappear in a different way if the wielder swings the cane into the ground. When the block disappears, it shoots a Fire spell in a trajectory adjacent to each of the cube's four sides (excluding the uppermost and lowest side). The spell can damage the user as well as anyone else in the area. Although effectively four Fire spells are produced at once, this use of Fire otherwise still adheres to the normal time limitations for that spell.

- A Weaponsmith can treat a Cane of Somaria as a material for the purpose of combining its effects with other materials or treasures into one weapon. For determining how many materials the Weaponsmith can craft into one item, treat this item as though it had a set cost of 20 rupees. Treat a Cane of Somaria with the Fire Cube augment as though it has a set cost of 30 rupees.
