Corruption is a powerful offensive spell which can be used to control a weakened beast against its will. Just knowing this evil spell carries with it a terrible stigma. Any animals or plant-based creatures which rely more on instinct more than intelligence, will always either attack or flee from the user, and will never trust the user. (Generally, these creatures include any being incapable of speech, excluding undead or other nonliving creatures, and excluding any beings already controlled in some way by another individual.) As such, the user cannot have a pet or mount which is not intelligent, undead, or possesses a Dark Affinity. If the user has a pet or mount without those qualities prior to gaining this spell, it would abandon him until such a time as it gains one of those qualities. Any such beast the user would control via means other than this spell, such as a Summoning spell, will disobey and abandon him, unless the user also has a Dark Affinity, enabling him to retain control with his spells (but not a normal pet or mount).

If the caster sees a beast on the brink of death, due to disease or injury, he can focus on it to force his willpower into it. A terrible, dark power will fill the targeted creature, filling it with health and strength slightly greater than what it had in its prime, and disfiguring it in some freakish way. Additionally, it will willingly serve the caster for as long as it remains in this state, and follow the caster's orders with no concern for its own safety. The corrupted creature will remain corrupted up to an hour's time, or after it dies or the caster dismisses it. Upon being dismissed, the creature will abruptly return to its weakened state, and will likely die due to the transformation inflicted upon it. Once a beast has been released from this spell, the caster cannot corrupt another beast for at least an hour's time.

As with all mind-controlling spells, casting Corruption is considered a crime in Hyrule.

The Corruption treasure is an original creation by one of Hyrule Castle's members. Its concept is credited to Spirit Adept.
