A Deku Nut appears as a brown nut, about the size of a Hylian's fist, with a golden slit running halfway across its exterior. This single seed is pure and potent, and as such can be useful as a material to be used by a Botanist. By contrast, a Deku Nut Supply is a collection of less pure seeds which retain the same practical use, but cannot be grown and cultivated by a Botanist. Using just four of these potent seeds, a skilled Botanist can cultivate a Deku Nut Supply.

A hard impact against the nut will cause it to explode, producing a blinding flash which will temporarily blind or stun almost anyone who sees it.

When used by a Botanist, these nuts are useful for creating an effect related to bright flashes, the Trap field, and the Illusion field.

Notably, a Botanist can use 2 Deku Nuts and 3 Smoke Seeds to craft a Scoot Fruit Supply.

Seed Effects

By using three Deku Nuts, along with at least three other seeds, a Botanist is able to create a Seed Supply with one of the following effects. These effects will combine with the effects of other seed types used as materials.

Deku	The normal effect of a Deku Nut occurs.
Caltrops	On impact, the nut explodes apart to produce several dozen small, hard, sharp balls of spikes which have a similar effect to caltrops.
Sap	On impact, the nut explodes apart to produce a small puddle of sticky sap. Although it can blue boots to the ground, it doesn't take too much strength to wade through the sap. It will slow down an approaching enemy, but generally won't stop it.
Oil	On impact, the nut explodes apart to produce a small puddle of extremely slick fluid. An unsuspecting Hylian or Moblin is almost guaranteed to slip on it.
Camouflage	This effect is useless on its own. The produced seed is camouflaged to be practically invisible except when observed closely, or when thrown through open air. Since this is an Illusion, the Lens of Truth can see past it.
Distract	After eating a portion of this seed, the next time the user blinks, a bright flash will emit several feet to the left or right of their face. Anyone who was watching them will likely become distracted. As this is an Illusion, treasures like the Lens of Truth can ignore it.

Elixir Effects

Deku Nuts can also be combined with specific quantities of other seeds to create a PerQuest Elixir with one of the following effects. As usual, the Botanist is able to produce multiple elixirs if her Botanist level is high enough.

Slick Oil	1 Deku + 1 Ember	When dumped out, the bottle produces up to ten gallons of extremely slick, extremely flammable material of a blackish-brown color.
Image Oil	1 Deku + 1 Smoke	This oil is designed to be dumped over a creature or physical object. After the target moves from its current position, left in its place will be an illusory image of that object. The illusion is extremely life-like, and will perfectly mimic the sights and sounds of the affected target, as that target would be in its idle state. A Hylian will appear to be breathing and blinking, for instance. However, physical objects will pass through it as easily as they could pass through air. This illusion persists for up to 24 hours.
Deku Baba Fertilizer	1 Deku + 1 Baba	This bottled fertilizer can be spread across an area up to thirty feet (or 10 meters) across. Seconds after it is placed, up to seven carnivorous Deku Baba plants will sprout up, each about as tall as an adult Hylian. Alternatively, three Big Deku Babas will sprout up, each twice the height of an adult Hylian. Regardless of their size, are stationary, but will lunge with a vicious bite at anyone who gets too close.
Bottled Trap	2 Deku + 2 Razor	This potion appears to be a thick black fluid. When dumped onto dirt or sand, however, the fluid rapidly forms a pit trap in a matter of seconds. A hole nine feet deep and three feet wide appears on the ground, lined at the bottom with wooden spikes capable of skewering enemies. The hole is covered with a pile of leaves braced in place, which will almost surely give way as soon as someone steps on them.
Jelly Bomb Fluid	4 Deku + 4 Bomb	This oil can be applied to a Bomb Flower, a Bomb Bag, a Supply of other explosives, or an individual explosive. For roughly a day's time, whenever a bomb is thrown or set, it will abruptly secrete an extremely stick sap, making it difficult to remove from whatever it contacts.
Clone Potion	4 Deku + 4 Magic	After drinking this potion, the user will slump into unconsciousness. A duplicate will appear out of their body, which the user will be able to use and control as if it was their own body. This duplicate is incapable of using physical treasures of the host body (such as magical items) unless it removes them from the host body, but is otherwise able to use spells and techniques. The duplicate will be destroyed after 10 minutes, or if it suffers a physical injury.
Stunning Poison	4 Deku + 4 Scent	This poison can be applied to the tip of one weapon. When a creature is cut with a blade coated in this poison, that creature's entire body abruptly becomes paralyzed, completely unable to move anything but their eyes. A blocked strike, as against an armor or shield, is likely to shake the poison loose and waste it. If the poison is imbibed or inhaled, it will have an identical effect. This paralysis lasts for at least an hour, unless cured by another treasure.
