Place:Lake Hylia
Hedged by ridged cliffs and tall evergreens, Lake Hylia sits serenely in Northern Hyrule. This large, calm lake has provided fresh water and succulent trout for those travelers that wish to appreciate its beauty. One of the true wonders of Hyrule, Lake Hylia stretches to nearly thirty miles in length, and has an average depth of over a hundred feet. Visitors of Lake Hylia enjoy its gorgeous scenery; its crystal clear water set against majestic cliffs and tall evergreens make Lake Hylia a very popular fishing and picnic spot among residents of Lon Lon Ranch, Darunia, and Mido.
Zora's Domain
Lake Hylia is also known to be the home of the great Zora people, an amphibious race whom thrive in it’s depths. Located on the lake-bed of Lake Hylia is the entrance to Zora’s Domain, a large underground network of caverns. Once inside Zora’s Domain, other races would be able to breathe, seeing as the majority of the domain is in the open cavern air; even so, just getting there is nearly impossible for a being without some means of breathing underwater.
Lit by torches, the crystalline caverns of Zora’s Domain would strike a sense of awe among any foreigner lucky enough to gain entrance. Thousands of Zora live here peacefully, never knowing the affects of war, having been protected from the impenetrable depths of water. Many Zora music bands perform weekly in the grand hall, located in the the back of the caverns; this grand hall is massive, easily housing thousands of guests. In the center of Zora’s Domain, in a very large crystal formation hanging from the ceiling, rests the home of King Zora and his family; a series of stone staircases lead one to access this magnificent structure.
Located in a well guarded corner of Zora’s Domain rests the most important figure of all of Zora culture, this being that of Lord Jabu Jabu. Lord Jabu Jabu is a large, ancient fish, one of whom the Zora regard as their Patron Deity. Lord Jabu Jabu is always guarded by several Zora Guard, ensuring the protection of not only Lord Jabu Jabu, but in their minds, their civilization as a whole.
Every day, Zora rise to the surface of Lake Hylia, seeking to experience the beauty of Hyrule. Many visitors of Lake Hylia have awed at the Zora, and some have even struck up conversations with them. Some of the Zora even venture out of the lake and travel to various locations around Hyrule, seeking gain knowledge of the world beyond. Some have even taken residence in the cities of land-dwellers.
