Melee Magic is an offensive spell. Once it has been learned, it is automatically active unless the user wills for it to cease. When the user's bare hands move to attack as with a punch, chop, palm thrust, or other direct blow, sparks of magic will emit from the user's hands. The sparks appear and function in a manner similar to electrical sparks. These sparks create painful shocks on impact, increasing the damage dealt.

With practice, the user is able to add these same damaging sparks to any attacks using elbows, knees, or feet. For this to function, however, the portion of the body used to strike must not be covered with any kind of bulky or obtrusive material. A kick enhanced by Melee Magic could function through a sandal or a thin shoe, but not a bulky boot.

The user can gain the Spark Smash or Spark Heel augment simultaneously with the original treasure for an additional cost, or as a separate treasure at a later time.

Spark Smash enables the user to concentrate the sparks of Melee Magic into a more potent, focused attack. The user takes a moment to concentrate a good amount inner strength and magic into her arm, before abruptly thrusting her palm forward to unleash an explosion of electrifying melee magic just inches from the tip of their hand. This explosion can be devastating when used properly, and can wield nearly as much destructive force as a Bomb.

Spark Heel is a particularly powerful technique usable with Melee Magic. To use it, the user concentrates a viciously powerful amount of magic and inner strength into her heel, before slashing it into her opponent. If the kick connects solidly, the sheer force of the blow cuts into the target with electricity, before sending them flying back at least a dozen feet. Gorons or those wearing armor may not be sent back quite to that extent, of course. The sheer force of this strike has been known to break bones even through armor, given a solid enough strike.

Trivia

The Melee Magic treasure does not appear verbatim within the official Zelda series. However, it does appear in Super Smash Bros. Melee. In this game, many of Princess Zelda's attacks featured something akin to Melee Magic.
