The Password Padlock is a simple but useful treasure. As its name implies, it locks a chest or door with a password.
When not in use, the item appears as a ring to be worn on the finger. If the wearer presses his hand to a specific surface and utters a specific word, the password, the ring will disappear from his hand, and reappear on the touched surface in the form of a lock. (The password varies from one Password Padlock to another.) The ring typically becomes a padlock if it can, but can also be used to lock a door, or other artificial opening that could feasibly be locked. If the touched surface cannot be reasonably locked, the ring will remain on the wearer's finger.
Regardless of the form the lock takes, it is virtually indestructible. Although immense force can be used to break it, it is usually easier to break through the locked surface than the Password Padlock itself.
While the lock is placed, it will teleport back onto the wearer's finger when one of two conditions is met: if the original wearer utters the password at any time, or if anyone else utters the password within a few feet of the Password Padlock.
Trivia
The Password Padlock treasure is an original creation by one of Hyrule Castle's members. Its concept is credited to Guy.
