Goron Iron is a precious metal, which can be used by a particularly skilled Weaponsmith to forge a weapon or shield, or an Outfitter to create any piece of armor they would otherwise be able to craft. Unlike some materials, Goron Iron has no effect on its own, and appears only as a dark chunk of metal. It only becomes extremely durable after it has been used to craft an object.

An item crafted with Goron Iron is completely impervious to heat, cold, or other elements, and cannot even be broken by a blast as powerful as a Powder Keg. It does transmit electricity like other metals, but is not damaged by it directly. Despite these benefits, Goron Iron is extremely heavy, being approximately thrice the weight of steel. Its virtually-indestructible nature makes it extremely difficult to sharpen, leaving any weapon made from it dull. Goron Iron cannot be crafted in tandem with another material, except through the effect of Master Ore. Note that unlike other materials which offer protection, such as Dodongo Hide or Gratitude Crystals, armor created from Goron Iron imposes no magical protection on its wearer. It is quite possible that an effect could obliterate someone inside a suit of armor of Goron Iron, but leave the suit itself perfectly intact. Blunt weapons in particular are excellent at damaging the wearer, regardless of how heavily armored they are.

Trivia

  • Note that an object made Goron Iron is not completely indestructible, but is virtually impossible to break without a treasure which is specifically capable of damaging it. For example, a fully-charged Shield Breaker is capable of piercing it.
  • Cheval Rope has a similar property of being virtually indestructible.
  • The Goron Iron (material) treasure canonically appears in the Zelda series, initially in Phantom Hourglass. More information about the canonical version of this treasure can likely be found on Zelda Wiki.
