The Inversion Band usually appears as either a belt or elastic headband, often colored red on one side and blue on the other. The band will instill its effect on any person, animal, or object it is snugly secured around.

The affected entity experiences all heat as cold, and all cold as heat, relative to room temperature. If the wearer is sweating outside on a hot day, putting on this band will rapidly cool down their body--likely to the point of shivering from the cold.

For most wearers, this band doesn't protect from extreme temperatures, as anything lethal in one direction is still lethal in the opposite direction. However, it can extremely useful for those with an Infernal Composition or a Frigid Composition, since they have an extremely high tolerance for either heat or cold, but not the opposite.

This band does not protect from flames. Should it be wrapped around an entity that is on fire, the flames will simply become Cold Fire instead, which is usually just as dangerous.

Trivia

  • For most creatures, more effective protection can be gained against heat with a Goron Tunic, and against cold with a Yeti Tunic.
  • The Inversion Band treasure is an original creation by one of Hyrule Castle's members. Its concept is credited to Guy.
